"'Real building owner' Ha Jung-woo talked about being a 'building owner.'"
On Mar. 9 at The Link Hotel in Sindorim, Seoul, a production press conference was held for the new tvN Saturday-Sunday drama Mad Concrete Dreams.
The event was broadcast live online at the same time, and Ha Jung-woo, Lim Soojung, Kim Jun Han, Jung Soojung, Shim Eunkyung and director Im Pil-seong attended. The event was hosted by Park Kyung-lim.
Mad Concrete Dreams, which premieres on Mar. 14 (Sat.) at 9:10 p.m., is a drama that depicts the suspense that unfolds when a debt-ridden livelihood building owner takes part in a staged kidnapping to protect a family and a building more precious than his life.
Ha Jung-woo, who plays building owner Ki Su-jong, is actually a building owner and news recently surfaced that he put a property on the market. Regarding this, Ha Jung-woo said, "As you all know, because the real estate market is bad, I put it on the market two years ago to cut my losses early. It was not that I made that decision because I filmed this drama and went through a change of heart."
He continued, "While filming as a building owner, there were parts of the script I empathized with. I also own a building. Just because someone is a building owner doesn't mean life is rosy; I realized early on that economic support isn't guaranteed, so there were many relatable parts. There were things I did when I lacked economic and real estate knowledge. Through this drama, I empathized a lot with Su-jong."
In particular, he emphasized with a laugh, "That doesn't mean the property I put on the market has defects. It's not like that. I hope it is portrayed well."
Ha Jung-woo added, "While filming I learned that you shouldn't try to become part of the FIRE movement too quickly. It's great to use leverage to buy buildings or real estate. But while using it, how much I can handle is an important part, isn't it? I kept thinking while filming that you should only take on as much as you can handle. I think an important theme of this drama is that on the road of vague hopes to make a fortune overnight, even if you gain something, you will pay a price."
