Former baseball player and broadcaster Hwang Jae-gyun shared that he is currently considering remarriage.
On the 7th episode of MBC Omniscient Interfering View, Jun Hyun-moo visited Hwang Jae-gyun's home.
That day, Hwang Jae-gyun served a dish he had prepared himself to Jun Hyun-moo. Tasting it, Jun Hyun-moo expressed gratitude and admiration, and then continued the conversation about recent news by saying, "Aren't you making your broadcasting debut as a commentator?"
In response, Hwang Jae-gyun said, "For the WBC I have two games, against the Czech Republic and Japan, and I'll be doing those games. It's my first time so I don't know what to do," expressing his concerns about his commentary debut.
Then Jun Hyun-moo said, "I'm also a novice at commentary, but your advantage is that you played most recently. And you know the active players best, right? If you mention one thing about what the player likes, like this pitcher prefers this kind of pitch, you don't have to talk much," he advised.
Hwang Jae-gyun said, "I'll think about it and prepare in advance," showing determination, and when Jun Hyun-moo asked, "So is your schedule only commentary?", Hwang Jae-gyun replied, "Now I have to shoot 'Ask Me Anything' and I'm worried about what to make the topic," sharing another concern.
Hearing this, Jun Hyun-moo asked, "Should I get married again?" drawing attention. It was actually a concern Hwang Jae-gyun had confided in Jun Hyun-moo about. Jun Hyun-moo addressed the bowed Hwang Jae-gyun, saying, "No, that's actually a concern you brought to me," and added, "What you actually told me was that you always say you want to have a baby," he said.
Hwang Jae-gyun agreed, saying, "That's right," and Jun Hyun-moo mentioned the baby items arranged in the house, saying, "That's part of it too. When your nieces and nephews come over you play with them. Don't you really like babies?"
Hwang Jae-gyun said, "That's true. They come visit often. After my niece was born it got worse," expressing his desire for a second child. Then Jun Hyun-moo encouraged him, saying, "(Seo) Jang Hoon also came back. And Su-geun is married. Both sides have their positions. Then isn't there a good older brother who can best sympathize with your position? Talk to someone like that."
At that point Hwang Jae-gyun urged Jun Hyun-moo about his marriage, asking, "Can't you go first, hyung?" and Jun Hyun-moo retorted, "What? It's almost impossible for me. There's no one." Then Hwang Jae-gyun fired back with a blunt comment that made everyone laugh, saying, "I know you don't have anyone. I know that better than anyone. That's why I always visited your place, right?"
Especially because Hwang Jae-gyun said he watches dating shows well, he watched Single's Inferno 5 with Jun Hyun-moo and asked, "Hyung, how do you feel when you watch this kind of thing?" Jun Hyun-moo replied, "In the past when I watched shows like I'm SOLO, I often thought I wanted to do it too. I used to get immersed in them. But now that I'm older I watch them like a magic eye. Do you know what I think when I watch those things? 'Their stomach must hurt, their belly must be cold,'" he said, conveying his vanished dating instincts.
Hearing this, Hwang Jae-gyun said in disbelief, "Did you think the same as me, hyung and I?" and Jun Hyun-moo teased, "You're becoming more like me now." In response, Hwang Jae-gyun, feeling a sense of crisis, added, "We shouldn't think similarly, this is a big problem.." and drew more laughter.
Meanwhile, Hwang Jae-gyun married T-ara's Jiyeon in 2022. However, rumors of divorce surfaced in June 2024, and it was reported in October of the same year that they were undergoing divorce proceedings. Ultimately, the two finalized their divorce mediation in November 2024, ending their 1 year and 11 months of marriage.
