Kim Seon-tae, who was famous as "Chungju Man," has drawn attention with explosive growth since opening his personal YouTube channel. Not even a day after reaching 1 million subscribers, his subscriber count exceeded 1.23 million.
Kim Seon-tae launched a YouTube channel under his name on the 3rd and began full-scale activities. The channel description reads "I promote everything in the world," and a profile image drawn by travel YouTuber Pani Bottle was revealed, attracting attention. He announced his new challenge through his first video, "I am Kim Seon-tae."
The channel's growth rate was truly explosive. On the third day after its launch, the 5th, it surpassed 900,000 subscribers and immediately exceeded 1 million subscribers. After that, the subscriber count continued to rise quickly, reaching 1.23 million as of 9 a.m. on the 7th.
Video view counts also proved high interest. Only two videos have been released so far, but the first video surpassed 8 million views, and the second video, released on the 6th, has already exceeded 3 million views.
After reaching 1 million subscribers, Kim Seon-tae expressed his thanks with a so-called "lying-down broadcast." He said, "It feels like it hasn't been long since I made the channel, but I'm already at 1 million and I'm grateful," and added, "I wanted to take the lowest posture so I could look up to you, so I did a lying-down broadcast."
He then expressed surprise at the faster-than-expected growth. Kim Seon-tae said, "I thought it would be nice to have about 300,000 by now, but the channel did so well that dopamine came out," and candidly added, "I only slept four to five hours over two days. I was awake most of the time."
He also said that corporate interest is pouring in. He said, "There are a huge number of advertising inquiries. About 700 emails have come in," and added, "There are also many messages of support. I will check them one by one now."
Regarding his future plans, he said, "I want to create a professional channel that promotes a variety of things, whether people, products, systems, or public interest," and added, "I hope you will love it a lot."
In particular, he mentioned his time as a public servant and expressed his gratitude. Kim Seon-tae said, "My roots are as a public servant, and in fact I grew a lot in Chungju City," and added, "Since part of me was raised by taxes, I think I should give back someday."
Meanwhile, Kim Seon-tae ran Chungju City's official YouTube channel "Chung TV" and gained great popularity with the character "Chungju Man." He served as director for public relations and head of the new media team at Chungju City Hall, producing parody videos that drew attention, and that channel recorded as many as 970,000 subscribers at its peak.
He later submitted his resignation after nine years as a public servant and embarked on a new challenge as a creator. Having exceeded 1 million subscribers just days after launching the channel, interest in Kim Seon-tae's YouTube activities is growing.
