Actor Lee Jae-ryong was arrested after fleeing the scene of a drunk-driving crash, and attention is focusing on the fact that he appeared on Zzanbro just 12 days earlier and faced criticism.
On the 7th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station is investigating Lee Jae-ryong on charges including violation of the Road Traffic Act (failure to take measures after an accident).
Earlier, Lee Jae-ryong is accused of driving a vehicle near Samseong Jungang Station on Seoul Subway Line 9 at around 2 a.m. that day, crashing into the center divider and fleeing the scene. It was reported that no one was injured in the accident.
After the crash, Lee Jae-ryong parked the vehicle at his home, went to an acquaintance's house and was then arrested by police. In the breath test, Lee Jae-ryong's blood alcohol concentration was reported to be at the level for license suspension, and police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
The problem is that this is not Lee Jae-ryong's first drunk-driving incident. He had his license revoked after a drunk-driving crash in Gangnam, Seoul, in 2003, and in 2019 he was given a suspended prosecution for damaging a signboard at a bowling alley in Gangnam District, Seoul, after drinking.
In this situation, the fact that Lee Jae-ryong recently appeared on the web variety show Zzanbro hosted by Shin Dong-yeob has been brought back into the spotlight. In the video released on Feb. 23, Lee Jae-ryong, An Jaewook, Yoon Da-hoon and Seong Ji-ru appeared and drank while talking.
However, there were criticisms of the cast even then. The two drink-related incidents mentioned above involving Lee Jae-ryong and the fact that An Jaewook also caused controversy with two drunk-driving incidents in 2003 and 2019 led to questions about whether it was appropriate for the two people who caused controversy over drunk driving to appear on a show where they drank.
Moreover, Lee Jae-ryong brought out tequila and said, "I've been into tequila lately," and An Jaewook mentioned Lee Jae-ryong's drinking capacity, saying, "I've never beaten Jae-ryong hyung and have never seen him get drunk."
