Pop star Britney Spears was arrested for drunk driving. It is shocking that she was reported to have been under the influence of both alcohol and drugs at the time.
On the 5th (local time), Page Six reported that when Britney Spears was arrested for drunk driving last Wednesday night, it was believed she had been under the influence of both alcohol and drugs.
The California Highway Patrol told Page Six that police detained Britney Spears on suspicion of driving while alcohol and drugs were acting together at around 9:28 p.m. local time that day. She was reported to have been driving a black BMW at high speed erratically near the Newbury Park Borchard Road exit before being ordered to stop. Immediately after being handcuffed, she was taken to a hospital for a blood test to check her blood alcohol concentration.
Britney Spears was ultimately arrested and is believed to have undergone multiple on-scene tests for alcohol and drug influence before being booked into the Ventura County main jail. Chemical test results have not yet been released, and an investigation is currently underway.
An insider said police also found an unidentified substance inside the vehicle at the time of the arrest.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, Britney Spears was processed into custody at 3:02 a.m. on the 5th and was released at 6:07 a.m. A formal arraignment is scheduled for May 4.
Britney Spears's spokesperson said in a statement that the arrest was "regrettable and completely unacceptable." The spokesperson added that "Britney will take the right steps and comply with the law, and I hope this will be the first step toward the changes her life has needed for a long time. I hope she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time."
A source told Page Six, "Britney Spears was very emotionally shaken at the time of her arrest and did not want to let anyone down."
