Actor Lee Dongwook and Jung Yu-mi will play a married couple in the Netflix series "Love Affair" (working title).
On the 6th, OSEN reported that Jung Yu-mi recently received and decided to accept a casting offer for Netflix's new series "Love Affair." Lee Dongwook had already confirmed his appearance early on, and with Jung Yu-mi joining, the important male and female lead lineup was completed.
In response, Jung Yu-mi's agency Noon Company said, "Jung Yu-mi is reviewing the script for 'Love Affair'."
Lee Dongwook will play Kim Ji-hun, a man in his early 40s, who falls into a passionate love with a woman other than his wife, sending what had been a happy family toward ruin. Jung Yu-mi will play Ji-hun's wife, who, during a happy marriage, is thrown into turmoil by her husband's affair.
Earlier this year, Jung Yu-mi parted ways with Management SOOP after nine years and signed an exclusive contract with her new agency, Noon Company. "Love Affair" is expected to be the first project she appears in after the move, and this will be the first time Jung Yu-mi and Lee Dongwook act together.
"Love Affair" is the new work by director Mo Wan-il of "The World of the Married," which aired in 2020 and recorded a peak viewership rating of 28.4%. After finishing Netflix's "The Frog" (2024) and while preparing the series "Inside Men," he left for various reasons, creating an unintended gap in his directing schedule. "Love Affair" centers on a couple who led stable careers and a happy marriage but face ruin because of a fatal love that suddenly arrives like a traffic accident.
Following director Mo Wan-il's representative works "Misty" (2018) and "The World of the Married" (2020), attention is focused on how he will handle the intense emotions between spouses and extramarital relationships. There are also talks that some settings are similar to the megahit "The World of the Married," but insiders say the level of expression and development will be even more provocative.
Meanwhile, "Love Affair" is scheduled to start principal photography in the first half of this year, and it is reported to include overseas location shoots in Spain. Ha Soo-jin, the writer of KBS2's "The Matchmakers," will write the script, with production by FNC Story, and it will be released on global OTT Netflix.
