Lee Sona advanced to the TOP5 alongside Gil Ryeowon, Yoon Tae-hwa, Hong Sung-yoon and Her Chanmi, and in the final mission, the "song of a lifetime mission," she passionately sang Patti Kim's "Love Is the Flower of Life." By reversing the final result in the live national vote, Lee Sona proved she was the subject of the viewer-enthused "Lee Sona syndrome."
At the moment her name was called, Lee Sona sank down and sobbed uncontrollably. Her mother in the audience and her husband, actor Kang Sang Jun, also wept together.
It was understandable: Lee Sona had cared for a mother suffering from Parkinson's disease while nurturing her dream of becoming a singer despite modest means. The hardships over the years moved not only Lee Sona and her family but also the watching masters to tears. Lee Sona said in her winner's remarks, "I am grateful and thankful to my beloved family who made many sacrifices despite our modest circumstances."
