MBC has confirmed the premiere date for this year's most anticipated series, IU·Byeon Woo-seok starring Perfect Crown.
According to OSEN reporting on the 6th, MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown is scheduled to premiere on April 10 and will follow the currently airing In Your Radiant Season, running a total of 12 episodes.
Originally, Perfect Crown's side was weighing broadcast dates in April, but because the March 7 match between Korea and Japan in the 2026 World Baseball Classic will air, the Friday-Saturday drama In Your Radiant Season was preempted. Because its finale was pushed back one week, Perfect Crown's premiere was naturally set for the second week, on the 10th.
Perfect Crown is a status-breaking romance drama set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy version of Korea about a woman born into a chaebol who has everything except her social status and is annoyed by being commoner, and a man who is the king's son but cannot have anything and is tragically determined to carve out his destiny. The series drew major attention from casting onward, with top star IU and Byeon Woo-seok starring as the male and female leads, drawing interest from global fans.
IU plays chaebol Seong Hee-joo, who has everything except her social status, and Byeon Woo-seok plays Prince Ian, who could not become king. IU's next project follows When Life Gives You Tangerines, and Byeon Woo-seok's follows Lovely Runner, so both are carrying equal measures of expectation and pressure with this choice.
Among MBC's historical Friday-Saturday drama lineup, the top three in ratings are Knight Flower (18.4%, starring Lee Ha-nee) at No. 1, The Red Sleeve (17.4%, starring Lee Jun-ho) at No. 2, and Big Mouth (13.7%, starring Lee Jong-suk) at No. 3.
With IU and Byeon Woo-seok teamed up in Perfect Crown, viewers are wondering whether it can break MBC's elusive 20% barrier and what audience reactions will be.
