Kep1er member Seo Yeong-eun has decided to leave the group after suspending activities for eight months.
On the 6th, agencies WakeOne and KLEB Entertainment posted a lengthy notice on their official social media titled "Kep1er future activity structure and notice regarding member Seo Yeong-eun's activities."
That day, Kep1er said, "Going forward, we will continue activities as a six-member unit of Choi Yoo-jin, Xiaoting, Kim Chae-hyun, Kim Da-yeon, Hikaru and Huening Bahiyyih. Along with this, Seo Yeong-eun, who has shared a precious journey as a Kep1er member since debuting in 2022, has finished her activities with the team," announcing her departure.
They added, "Our company and Seo Yeong-eun have had in-depth discussions for a long time about the direction of future activities, and after careful discussion we reached this decision," and explained, "Kep1er members, based on trust in one another, respect Seo Yeong-eun's wishes and send their support."
They continued, "We are deeply grateful to Seo Yeong-eun, who devoted more sincerity and passion than anyone as a member of the team, and our company sincerely supports her future path," and promised, "Kep1er will continue a new chapter as a six-member group. We will do our best to repay Kep1ans with better music and performances."
Finally, the agency added, "We ask fans to give warm encouragement and continued love to Seo Yeong-eun, who will walk a new path, and to Kep1er, who will continue activities as six members."
Meanwhile, Kep1er was formed through Mnet's global project Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga. Seo Yeong-eun temporarily suspended group activities in July last year due to health deterioration, and accordingly she did not participate in Kep1er's August comeback and concert tour. With Seo Yeong-eun deciding to leave the group eight months after suspending activities, Kep1er will start anew as a six-member unit.
