Actor Koo Hye-sun opened up about the price controversy surrounding the hair roller she personally developed, explaining the product and outlining future plans.
On the 5th, Koo Hye-sun directly clarified the price controversy over the recently released hair roller "KuRoll" via her social media. She first described the product as "a product that reduces plastic use by more than 80% compared with conventional round hair rollers," and said "ordinary hair rollers often tangle and become soiled, but KuRoll can be unfolded to easily remove hair and is durable enough to be used permanently."
She cited limits in production scale as the reason for the raised price controversy. Koo Hye-sun said "the initial manufacturing quantity was not large, so the cost was high and the current price is somewhat high," and said "we plan to offer discount events later so that consumers can purchase without burden."
She also emphasized the product's eco-friendliness, saying, "Please use it if you consider the environment."
The hair roller "KuRoll" developed by Koo Hye-sun was recently released through the official sales site, and one is sold for 13,000 won, while a two-piece set is sold for 25,000 won. However, compared with ordinary hair rollers sold on the market that cost a few hundred won to around 1,000 won, some have continued to point out that "isn't the price excessively high?"
Earlier, Koo Hye-sun used the hair roller to publicly release the piano new-age concert film she directed, "I am your pet," via QR code. She provided buyers of the hair roller with a card containing a QR code so they could view the work.
Koo Hye-sun explained the approach, saying, "There was the practical problem of finding theaters to screen the film, and because the format is different from conventional films I worried about how to meet audiences," and said, "I wanted to gift the film as a restful piece of content to those who bought the hair roller."
With the product price controversy and the unique content distribution method drawing attention, interest is focusing on whether public sentiment can be soothed by the discount events Koo Hye-sun has promised.
