The Outlaws film production team warned about impersonation scams using casting as a pretext.
On the 5th, the The Outlaws production team posted on its official SNS a notice saying "Recently, cases have been reported in which individuals impersonating the production team approach people under the pretext of actor auditions and casting."
The production team added, "While there may be occasions when we contact actors who do not have an agency directly, we always disclose our affiliation and real name and verify identity with a business card upon request," and emphasized, "If someone refuses identity verification or tries to steer conversations to anonymous messengers or open chats, extra caution is required."
The production team also drew a line, saying there is no request for money during the casting process. They said, "We do not request any money under any name related to The Outlaws 5 casting," and explained, "Meetings or auditions are also conducted through normal procedures such as official offices, and there is no case of requesting individual meetings in inappropriate locations."
They added, "If impersonation or fraud is confirmed, we will take strong legal action," and asked people to be especially careful to prevent damages from similar cases.
Meanwhile, the The Outlaws series is a crime action film centered on detective Ma Seok-do (Don Lee), and The Roundup, The Roundup: No Way Out, and The Roundup: Punishment each surpassed 10 million viewers in succession, making a record as the first Korean films to reach "three consecutive 10 million" box office hits.
In the fifth installment, The Outlaws 5, actor Kim Jaeyeong joined as a new villain, and production is currently in the pre-production stage aiming for release in 2027.<
