Actor Lim Soojung said she chose Mad Concrete Dreams as an extension of the genre expansion of works in her filmography.
Mad Concrete Dreams, a new Saturday-Sunday drama on cable channel tvN that premieres at 9:10 p.m. on the 14th (written by Oh Han-gi, directed by Im Pil-seong), portrays the suspense that unfolds when a livelihood-struggling building owner, to protect her family and building more precious than life, joins a fake kidnapping scheme. The performances of Ha Jung-woo, Lim Soojung, Kim Jun Han, Jung Soojung and Shim Eunkyung promise acting synergy and raise expectations.
Lim Soojung plays Kim Sean, the resolute wife of Gi Soo-jong (played by Ha Jung-woo), in Mad Concrete Dreams. She said the reason she decided to appear in Mad Concrete Dreams was, "In recent years I wanted the works in my filmography to expand genre-wise. The film Gumi-jip, the OTT series Pine: Country Bumpkins, and Mad Concrete Dreams are all works within one chapter for me."
Lim Soojung added, "Mad Concrete Dreams is attractive in that it interestingly depicts how ordinary people like us gradually change through certain choices, rather than portraying a typical villain." Mad Concrete Dreams, which depicts the desires of people around the building, is expected to reveal another side of Lim Soojung different from her previous works. About the character Kim Sean, Lim Soojung said, "She is a character who believes her daughter and family are more important than the building. From a certain point she helps her husband Gi Soo-jong and becomes involved in the incident. Although the two usually bicker, the moment Kim Sean decides she must protect her family, exciting scenes of the couple working together unfold."
She went on to explain, "These actions by Kim Sean create a subtle rhythm of black comedy and add suspense to the development of the drama.
