Director Yeon Sang-ho's new film "Gunchae" has been confirmed for release in May and has revealed its concept typography.
From Jun Ji-hyun to Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Changwook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock, and Go Soo, the star-studded cast has drawn attention. Gunchae (director Yeon Sang-ho, distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by WOWPOINT·Smilegate, co-produced by Midnight Studio) has confirmed a May release and has once again raised expectations by revealing concept typography with overwhelming visuals. Gunchae is a film about trapped survivors in a building sealed off by a mysterious outbreak who fight against infected people who evolve into unpredictable forms.
The revealed concept typography depicts infected people tangled with white mucus between the title letters, suggesting the birth of a new species never seen before just from that visual, and it provokes curiosity about how the infected in the film will be reborn as a "gunchae." Also, the sight of infected people moving and surging in one direction foreshadows the fierce confrontations and suspense between survivors and infected people that will unfold on screen, making the heart race.
Director Yeon Sang-ho, who set a milestone for the Korean-style zombie genre with Train to Busan and showed the pinnacle of a dystopian world with the series Hell, surprised global audiences with direction that exceeded expectations in every work. His new film Gunchae is expected to open another new horizon for him. With trusted actors from Jun Ji-hyun to Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Changwook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock, and Go Soo joining forces, Gunchae is expected to emerge as the hottest topic in theaters this May.
Gunchae, a film that stimulates curiosity by revealing its concept typography, is scheduled to open in theaters in May 2026. <
