TV CHOSUN's new weekend miniseries 'Doctor Shin' reunites Song Ji In, Jeon No-min and Gee Young-san with writer Phoebe once again, activating their fierce roles as a "typhoon core."
The new TV CHOSUN weekend miniseries 'Doctor Shin,' written by Phoebe (Phoebe, Im Seong-han), directed by Lee Seung-hoon and produced by Scene & Studio and TM Group, is scheduled to premiere on March 14 at 10:30 p.m. It is a medical thriller about a genius doctor who challenges the realm of the divine and a woman whose brain is damaged overnight, causing her to lose her soul. 'Doctor Shin' is the first medical thriller written by writer Phoebe, who has built a unique worldview by causing "shock and sensation" in every work. With the stylish direction of Lee Seung-hoon, director of Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce), the series promises an unpredictable genre.
In this regard, Song Ji In, Jeon No-min and Gee Young-san take on key roles in Phoebe's "signature shocking narrative," using their solid acting skills and delicate expressiveness to anchor the show's weighty tone.
Song Ji In takes on a bold transformation in 'Doctor Shin' as Hyun Ran-hee, the mother of Momo (played by Baek Seora) and the head of a gallery. With voluminous hippie-perm waves, sophisticated outfits and flashy makeup, she draws attention with a look 180 degrees different from before. In the drama, Hyun Ran-hee exerts extreme maternal love for her beloved daughter Momo, heightening dramatic tension.
Jeon No-min appears as James, the older brother of Ha Yong-jung (played by An Woo Yeon) and a famous stylist, taking on a character unlike any he has played before. In the drama, James is the head of Reim Company, which employs Momo's stylist Kim Jin-joo (played by Cheon Young-min), and exudes dazzling fashion and a dandy attitude befitting the industry's top stylist. Viewers' expectations rise for how Jeon No-min's version of James, with neat pomade hair and a distinctive manner of speaking, will be portrayed.
Gee Young-san plays Paul Kim, a Western-style painter who worked in Germany and returned to Korea, showing an upgraded acting transformation completely different in tone from Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce) and Assi Durian. In the drama, Paul Kim conveys complex, deep backstories with delicate emotion, featuring long hair tied back in a natural style and eyes full of melancholy.
The production team said, "Writer Phoebe personally requested the appearances of Song Ji In, Jeon No-min and Gee Young-san, and their solid acting and gravitas change the atmosphere of the drama each time they appear," adding, "The explosive scenes the three actors will create will serve as important viewing points in 'Doctor Shin.'"
