Jeon Soo-kyung of "Dad and Me season 3" confessed that she had undergone thyroid cancer surgery in the past.
On the April 4 broadcast of TV CHOSUN "Dad and Me season 3," Jeon Soo-kyung revealed her daily life with her 97-year-old father.
That day Jeon Soo-kyung confessed that she had received thyroid cancer surgery. She said she had the surgery on Aug. 15, 2010, and recalled the date exactly: "I was busy and had no time to take care of my body. Because I was tired, vocal cord nodules also began to appear," she recalled.
She went on to explain that she got a health checkup, saying, "Because my body did not recover quickly, I was worried and went to get tested, and they said it looked like cancer and that it had to be done immediately."
Jeon Soo-kyung confessed, "It was so close to the vocal cords that when they remove the tumor by surgery, the nerves of the vocal cords could be cut as well. Singing would be over. If they are cut like that."
She also said, "I didn't show it outwardly, but I fell apart inside. 'Will I be able to return to the stage?' That was the hardest time of my life."
Jeon Soo-kyung asked her father, "Did you know that after my surgery my voice would be raspy and shaky?" Her father said he had known since his daughter's thyroid surgery and replied, "You couldn't sing for a while, could you? It's just that I'm not expressive. I know everything."
In an interview, her father spoke calmly, saying, "I worried a lot inside when she was sick. I thought, 'She will be fine.' Time passed and it has come to today."
Jeon Soo-kyung vowed, "We've both been sick before. Father had one surgery and I had one surgery, so take good care of your health." Her father showed confidence, saying, "I'm well informed about health," and Jeon Soo-kyung added, "Be optimistic like my father, take good care of yourself, do hot compresses and live well."
Then Jeon Soo-kyung's father cheerfully responded, "If you live too long, you might rot. I don't think you'd be welcomed," which brought laughter.
