Broadcaster Lee Hwi-jae and Moon Jung-won's whereabouts were reported for the first time in four years, and an insider who communicates closely with the couple also spoke out.
On the 4th, an aide to Lee Hwi-jae and Moon Jung-won told OSEN, "The most recent contact was at the end of February, which is Moon Jung-won's birthday. At that time I contacted her to congratulate her on her birthday and asked if the twins were doing well. She said they were exercising hard and doing well."
The aide added about Lee Hwi-jae's family's whereabouts, "They are still in Canada. I don't know whether they recently came to Korea and went back."
Earlier on the 3rd, Moon Jung-won shared an update on her personal social media for the first time in four years. Posting photos and videos with the caption "Already March, 2026," the post drew attention as it was her first since halting activities.
The released photos showed her spending daily life in Canada with her twin children, who are now middle school students by Korean age. The noticeably grown twins caught attention. With Moon Jung-won revealing her whereabouts for the first time in four years, some suggested she might be preparing to return soon.
The aide said there was no sign of that in contact from two weeks ago and that they did not discuss a return. The aide cautiously drew a line, saying, "We didn't talk about (a return). We just exchanged birthday congratulations and that was it."
Meanwhile, Lee Hwi-jae debuted in 1992 on 'Sunday Sunday Night' and was loved for his handsome looks and wit on numerous variety programs. He married florist Moon Jung-won in 2010 and welcomed twin sons Seo-eon and Seo-jun in 2013. Riding a second wave of popularity from KBS2's The Return of SUPERMAN, he won the grand prize at the 2015 KBS Entertainment Awards.
The couple Lee Hwi-jae and Moon Jung-won halted broadcasting activities in September 2022 and left for Canada with their family for a break. The following year, after Lee Hwi-jae's exclusive contract with CUBE Entertainment expired and he returned to Canada without finding a new agency, speculation arose that he might be taking steps toward retirement.
However, at the time an aide to Lee Hwi-jae told OSEN, "He's not retiring, but the reports suggesting he might be taking steps toward retirement made us uncomfortable," dispelling retirement rumors.
