Group 2NE1 member Sandara Park addressed Park Bom's drug allegation and then appeared at a public event.
Park Bom of 2NE1, who suspended activities last August due to health issues, posted a handwritten letter on social media on the 3rd saying, "I am not sick and I am doing my best. I want to say something cautious. I'm careful because it might cause an uproar, but I'm concerned about a drug known as the psychotropic Adderall."
Park Bom said, "I don't want to say it again. Even if I die, if it is said again on the news it might be a path to ruin. I was dead then. But I muster the courage to say it. That's not a drug. I am a patient with ADD, and this is called attention deficit disorder," referring to the 2010 incident in which 82 tablets of Adderall, a controlled substance in South Korea, were brought into the country via international mail without customs declaration or approval from the Ministery of Food and Drug Safety, which became controversial.
In this context, Park Bom said, "They caught Park Sandara for drugs and, to cover that up, made Park Bom look like a drug user. At the time, the country had no drugs called Adderall, and there was no law. Strangely, a law was created after Park Bom. Internet citizens, please investigate it as it is."
The agency rushed to manage the situation. Park Bom's side said, "As you know, this happened because Park Bom became unstable due to health issues," denying that the exposé post was true.
Despite Park Bom's side managing the situation, Sandara Park's fans demanded that she directly state her position on the allegation, and on the 4th Sandara Park posted, "I have never taken drugs. I hope she is healthy," conveying her stance.
Sandara Park issued her position regarding Park Bom's attack within a day and then stood on the photo wall. Sandara Park attended a photo wall event commemorating the opening of a flagship store of a clothing brand in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, that day. Amid the controversy, Sandara Park, who stated her position and stood on the photo wall, smiled brightly while striking poses such as the V sign. Just before the photo wall she expressed her position and hugged Park Bom, successfully completed the photo wall and concluded her first official public appearance after the controversy.
