YG Entertainment is pouring unprecedented firepower into 2026, its 30th anniversary year. From the return of legendary group Big Bang to the youngest line BABYMONSTER, TREASURE's aggressive moves, and even the unveiling of a rookie group's contours that had been shrouded in mystery, it completed a roadmap set to shake the global K-pop market.
YG Entertainment posted the "2026 YG PLAN | YG ANNOUNCEMENT" video on its official blog on the 4th. Yang Hyun-suk, the general producer, who picked up the mic himself for the first time in about six months since last August, conveyed this year's major projects that YG has prepared without holding back, raising fans' expectations to a peak.
The hottest topic is undoubtedly the resumption of activities by Big Bang, the "icon of K-pop." Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Big Bang will reunite with YG to take the stage again. Yang Hyun-suk officially said, "We have agreed to hold a concert with Big Bang members," and added, "Because we have worked together for a long time, all YG staff are doing their best to create a perfect and excellent show," once again proving the solidity of 'YG familyship.'
The "monster rookie" BABYMONSTER will cement its global dominance this year with two album releases and a large-scale world tour. They will release a mini album in May, with the title track being "Choom (CHOOM)," which incorporates an oriental color. In the fall, they have already hinted at a second full-length album. Also, starting in June, they will meet fans around the world directly through a second world tour covering South America, Europe and Oceania.
TREASURE will open its "second act of full-fledged activities" with a mini album in June. In particular, this album will showcase "YG-style traditional hip-hop" by the members' strong will. Yang said, "The members came to us and said they wanted to do hip-hop themselves. You can expect the most YG-like music we haven't shown until now," expressing confidence.
YG, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, also specified the rookie lineup that will lead the future. Along with news that "a new boy group is being prepared with this fall as the target," they teased that they will soon reveal the other two members of the four-member girl group "Next Monster (working title)," following Ivalley and Chanyae, stimulating fans' curiosity.
Yang Hyun-suk, the general producer, promised, "I will keep making music diligently for the next 40, 50 years without losing my original intention," and added, "We will further refine the results of BABYMONSTER and TREASURE, which we have been working on since last year, to shine even more and bring joyful news throughout the year."
With everything from Big Bang's splendid comeback to the debut of a rookie group, attention in the global music market is focused on the proclamation to make 2026 "YG's year."<
