YG Entertainment unveiled a powerful lineup road map for 2026. Along with the resumption of activities by one of its flagship IPs, Big Bang, and the consecutive comebacks of TREASURE and BABYMONSTER, it is expected to create a storm in the global K-pop market.
YG Entertainment posted '2026 YG PLAN | YG ANNOUNCEMENT' on its official blog on the 4th. After about six months since August last year, Yang Hyun-suk, the general producer, gave an interview and personally conveyed the major YG news scheduled for this year.
Earlier, Big Bang announced they would resume activities to mark their 20th debut anniversary this year, drawing intense interest from global music fans. Yang, the general producer, said the group "has agreed to hold performances with Big Bang members."
While commemorating Big Bang's 20-year musical journey and the long time they helped shape the flow of the K-pop market, the reunion of YG and Big Bang is a meaningful starting point declaring the solidity of the "YG family ship." Yang said, "Because we've worked together for a long time, I don't think there will be difficulties," and added, "All YG staff will do their best to create a perfect and great performance."
BABYMONSTER and TREASURE will also carry out active promotions. First, BABYMONSTER announced a mini album in May and their second full-length album this fall. Yang introduced, "The mini album's title track is '춤 (CHOOM)'. The font that spells the Korean word for dance is very cool. It has an oriental feel and looks like a person spreading their arms and dancing." He also said they plan to hold a larger second world tour starting in June that will continue through South America, Europe and Oceania.
TREASURE will open act two of their full activities starting with the mini album released in June. Yang said, "The members suddenly came to me and said, 'I want to do hip-hop,' which surprised me. As they wished, when you listen to this album you'll be surprised that TREASURE does this kind of music too. You can expect cool, YG-style music that they've never shown before."
Finally, Yang Hyun-suk, the general producer, promised, "YG is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Rather than conveying special sentiments, I want to say that we will keep our original intention and continue to make music hard from this place until the 40th and 50th anniversaries. Since last year we have done our best for the active promotions of BABYMONSTER and TREASURE. We will further refine the results and bring you joyful news throughout the year."
Meanwhile, the outlines of YG's new groups, which were announced last year, have become clearer. Through subtitles it explained, "We are preparing a new boy group aiming for the fall," and "Following IVALY and Chanyae, we will soon reveal the other two members of the four-member girl group Next Monster (tentative)." /mK3244@OSEN.CO.KR
