MBC will assign weather analyst Yoon Tae-gu after abolishing the weather caster role.
On the 4th, MBC said that beginning on the 3rd it has newly assigned weather analyst Yoon Tae-gu, who majored in atmospheric science and holds a weather forecaster license, to the weekday Newsdesk weather segment to strengthen expertise in the meteorological field.
Analyst Yoon majored in atmospheric science at Monash University in Australia and is a meteorological expert who holds a weather technician certificate and a weather forecaster license. He also served as a meteorological officer in the Republic of Korea Air Force, gaining experience in weather analysis and forecasting.
Through the weekday MBC Newsdesk weather segment, he will deliver weather information to viewers. Although the time is short, based on his professional weather analysis and forecasting experience, he plans to explain the weather flow centered on synoptic charts in an easy-to-understand way.
In particular, through the daily "weather insight" segment, he will introduce that day's major weather events along with weather knowledge and scientific principles related to the forecast. Through this, the plan is to provide information that helps people understand weather phenomena more easily beyond simply delivering the weather.
Also, when hazardous weather situations such as typhoons, heavy rain, or heavy snow occur, he will appear not only on Newsdesk but also on major news programs as needed to explain the situation in detail and promptly deliver necessary weather information to viewers.
In this regard, MBC said, "We plan to continue providing viewers with more accurate and easy-to-understand weather services through meteorological information based on expertise and credibility."
