Netflix 'Culinary Class Wars2' cast member Kim Hee-eun chef revealed what led her to start cooking.
On the 3rd, SBS' Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny' featured the chef couple Kim Hee-eun and Yoon Dae-hyun.
That day Kim Hee-eun revealed her daily life working with 30 employees. Yoon Dae-hyun said, "I think my wife is the boss. She makes strong, correct judgments and decisions about the parts I can't do. I follow her completely. She even touches the team members. With affection," and Kim Hee-eun reproached, "Just call it whipping." Kim Hee-eun described Yoon Dae-hyun as "the chief conductor."
Kim Hee-eun explained what led her to start cooking: "Before I started cooking, I entered the ceramics department. After entering, I worked at the wheel and thought this wouldn't make me happy until the end. I had no conviction. I went to my seniors' graduation exhibition. Seeing the dishes, I thought, 'I want to express food,' so I dropped out and changed my career."
Kim Hee-eun recalled the past: "I told my father I was going to the culinary department. My father strongly objected. He threw an ashtray — he threw it into the air, it bounced off a glass door and hit my forehead. Something hot like broth came out and it bled. I was surprised too."
She confessed that she ran away from home, saying, "My father must have been startled too. I wish he had taken care of it, but my father, in a fit of anger, threw a dishcloth and said, 'wipe it.' I thought, 'Do you dislike the path I want to take that much?' and left home that day."
Kim Hee-eun said, "I left with one piggy bank. Behind the school I attended there was a one-room place renting for monthly rent without a deposit for 200,000 won. I had 240,000 won in my piggy bank. I decided to live for a month and 'earn money to go to culinary school. I must be recognized by my father.' I worked part-time really hard. Shampoo and conditioner promotion, toilet paper, to save on daily necessities I would go to the subway restroom and roll them up," revealing she went through hard times.
Kim Hee-eun added, "My father never got to taste my food even once. When I become complacent, I steady myself by thinking of my father."
