Earlier, Kim Seon-tae officially explained through the Chungju City YouTube community, "The bullying rumors and other internal conflicts are not true at all." He also addressed claims raised on online communities such as Blind that there was an "cancerous presence in the public service" by saying, "There was no conflict with any particular person or organization," and emphasizing, "It pains me most to see my colleagues being attacked." He then asked, "Although I am leaving, please continue to support Chungju City and my successor," showing his affection for the channel until the end.
However, immediately after his resignation announcement, the number of subscribers to Chungju City's YouTube plunged. Subscribers, which had exceeded 970,000, fell by nearly 200,000 in three days, dropping to the 700,000 range. The disappointment over 'ChungTV without Chungju man' was revealed in numbers.
Against this backdrop, Kim Seon-tae abruptly opened a personal YouTube channel under his name on the 3rd. In his first video, "This is Kim Seon-tae," he candidly explained his reason for leaving. He said, "I wanted to make more money," and "I'm 40. I wanted to test my abilities before it was too late." However, he again firmly denied internal discord, saying, "It hurt that it looked like I was kicked out." He emphasized, "I criticize others too. Jealousy and envy exist everywhere in the world. But it was not bullying. Many people helped me."
What drew attention was a comment left directly by the former Chungju City Hall YouTube official account in the comment section of the first video. The comment read, "Seon-tae, my Seon-tae." Kim Seon-tae responded to that comment with a 'like.' That effectively and pleasantly ended the discord rumors raised in some quarters.
Meanwhile, Kim Seon-tae's personal channel surpassed 400,000 subscribers within a day of its creation (as of 0 a.m. on the 3rd), and continued its steep rise, quickly securing the Silver Creator Award (100,000 subscribers).
