'Salmokji' star Jang Da-a mentioned a moment when she felt fear while filming.
On the morning of April 4, a footage screening and production briefing for the film 'Salmokji' were held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. Director Lee Sang-min, leading actors Kim Hyeyoon, Lee Jong-won, Kim Jun Han, Kim Young-seong, Oh Dong-min, Yoon Jae-chan, and Jang Da-a attended the event.
'Salmokji' (directed by Lee Sang-min, distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by The Lamp Co.) is a horror film in which an unidentified shape is captured in a road view called 'Salmokji,' and the filming team, heading to the reservoir for reshoots, encounters something in the black, deep water. It is director Lee Sang-min's first solo feature after building his own color and sensibility in the horror genre with short films such as 'Ham Jin-abi,' 'Dollimchong,' and 'The app that calls ghosts: Young.'
Jang Da-a played Se-jeong, the youngest producer who runs a horror channel, the girlfriend of Seong-bin, and another team member who came to support filming. She is also the older sister of IVE member Jang Won-young.
When asked, "What did you prepare for your first film role?", she said, "Se-jeong runs a horror channel and comes to the set hoping for high view counts. The part I paid attention to while acting is that Se-jeong is the most interested in horror among the team. She starts off bold and appears the least afraid. As the story progresses, she shows a range of emotions." She added, "I designed the character thinking she would show emotions she feels without filtering them. The director's expression of the emotions and lines in the script and the justification were clear, so I enjoyed acting and could perform comfortably."
Jang Da-a said that the most terrifying moment while filming 'Salmokji' was, "Actually, the scariest moments for all the characters are portrayed according to each character's traits. With that atmosphere and the conflicts and situations among the characters, just seeing the expressions of the senior actors was enough to feel fear."
On the day, Yoon Jae-chan said the bravest person while shooting the horror film was "actor Jang Da-a," and shared behind-the-scenes that "rather, the female actors were fearless, and overall the male actors were more scared."
Meanwhile, 'Salmokji' opens on Apr. 8.
