Ha Ye-rin, who plays Sophie, the female lead in Bridgerton 4, revealed behind-the-scenes stories about filming nude scenes.
Netflix Korea held a press conference for the original series Bridgerton 4 on the afternoon of the 4th at Community Masil in Myeongdong, Jung-gu, Seoul. Ha Ye-rin, who appears as Sophie, the female lead in Bridgerton 4, attended the event. Under the moderation of broadcaster Park Kyung-rim, she spoke with domestic reporters about the production and her recent activities.
Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn's best-selling novels and is set in the British Regency era, telling the love stories of the Bridgerton family in London high society. In season 4, Bridgerton's second son Benedict shows love that transcends social status with Sophie Beck, a maid born out of wedlock, and it received intense affection. Riding that wave, the series rose to number one on Netflix's global series chart, and even in Korea, despite being a foreign series, it reached the top two and generated significant buzz.
In particular, the Bridgerton series has been known for its mature ratings, with all seasons rated 19+ for adults and drawing attention for its explicit romantic scenes. The same holds true for season 4, which features a relatively conservative Eastern female lead. How did Ha Ye-rin handle the highly revealing scenes?
Ha Ye-rin confessed, I felt burdened. There is so much talk in society about women's bodies. I think many people today feel they have the right to criticize women's bodies shown on screen however they want. Because of that, I felt both burdened and worried.
She confessed, Especially in Korea, beauty standards differ from the West and can be stricter. Growing up and spending time in Korea, in some ways the way I viewed my body seemed to have flowed in a certain direction.
However, Ha Ye-rin emphasized, Fortunately, working with an intimacy coordinator is an essential role in the industry. That person did an excellent job and arranged the work almost like choreography. Thanks to that, they did their best to make me feel safe. I think it is important that actors consider the space safe so they can deliver their best performance.
