Singer WOODZ (Cho Seung-yeon) raised expectations for the release of his first full-length album by releasing a teaser for the title track "Human Extinction."
EDAM Entertainment released a music video teaser for WOODZ's first full-length album "Archive. 1" title track "Human Extinction" on its official social media channels at 12 a.m. on the 3rd.
The roughly 30-second video begins in a black-and-white mood with a narration saying, "If light brightens your darkness, can you handle it?" Then driving drums and racing band sounds add to create a thrilling atmosphere.
The video features three characters—a student, an office worker, and a doctor—each appearing in their own space, and veteran actor Park Hee-soon, who appeared in "The Judge Returns" and "No Other Choice," appears as the doctor, adding weight to the piece. Beside each character, WOODZ in white clothes appears with an unreadable expression, arousing curiosity about his role.
The direction, which sensually uses the contrast between the song's main messages of "light" and "darkness," also stands out. The same scene is expressed in a completely different mood through differences in light and shadow, suggesting the duality of human beings. On one side of the face a shaft of light falls and over the opposite deep shadow the phrase "Light is born in the presence of darkness" is inserted, visually realizing the message of coexistence of light and darkness. At the end of the teaser, as the video reaches its climax, WOODZ's refreshing vocals flow, heightening anticipation for the full song and the music video.
The title track "Human Extinction" is a song themed around light and the duality of human beings. Starting from the thought that "light can illuminate my path, but it also reveals me and must burst forth to shine," it asks whether we can bear it when light exposes human shame and desire. It poses a philosophical question about how to define humans between completeness and incompleteness.
"Archive. 1" is WOODZ's first full-length album since his debut and the first record documenting a new beginning. He participated in writing, composing and producing all the tracks on this album as well, concentrating his musical identity. Having established himself as a "trusted artist" by ranking No. 1 on domestic annual charts such as Melon with his self-composed song "Drowning," expectations are building for another musical expansion to be shown in this album.
Meanwhile, WOODZ's first full-length album "Archive. 1" will be released at 6 p.m. on March 4 on various online music sites.
