Park Shin-hye put the brakes on Lee Duk-hwa's villainy in earnest.
On the 1st episode of the weekend tvN drama Undercover Miss Hong (directed by Park Sun-ho, Na Ji-hyun / written by Moon Hyun-kyung / planned by Studio Dragon / produced by Celltrion Entertainment, Studio Dragon), episode 14 showcased Hong Geum-bo (played by Park Shin-hye) racing closer to her ultimate goal of reclaiming Hanmin Securities' slush fund. That day's ratings set a personal best, averaging 11.8% and peaking at 13.1% nationwide on paid platforms that combine cable, IPTV and satellite, and 12.3% and peaking at 13.9% in the Seoul metropolitan area, surpassing double digits for two consecutive weeks and securing first place among all channels in the same time slot. tvN's target 20-49 demographic ratings also ranked first across all channels including terrestrial broadcasters in both nationwide and metropolitan measures, proving its unshakable No. 1 status among weekend dramas. (Based on paid platforms combining cable, IPTV and satellite / provided by Nielsen Korea)
Hong Geum-bo proposed that Shin Jeong-woo (played by Ko Kyung-pyo) join the Yeouido pirate crew to help her, and even showed him the Hanmin Securities slush fund ledger to reveal her plan. After much deliberation, Shin Jeong-woo joined forces with Hong Geum-bo, and the rebirth of the Yeouido pirate crew was depicted as Go Bok-hee (played by Ha Yoon-Kyung), Albet Oh (played by Cho Han-gyeol) and Lee Yong-gi (played by Jang Do-ha) newly united their strengths. The five opened a new homepage for the Yeouido pirate crew, and Hong Geum-bo began to appear in the forefront by listing her name as the representative.
Meanwhile, Chairman Kang Pil-beom (played by Lee Duk-hwa) declared he would appoint either Albet Oh or Kang Nora (played by Choi Ji-soo) to the vacant president post at Hanmin Securities. Finding the captain of the Yeouido pirate crew became a common task for both candidates, and Albet Oh, following Hong Geum-bo's instructions, hinted to his father, Executive Director Oh Deok-gyu (played by Kim Hyeong-muk), that he was the captain. Executive Director Oh, who had to hide that fact by any means, fabricated an unlikely person as the captain and reported it to the chairman, and Albet Oh was recognized for his achievements and rose to the president's position.
But chief secretary Song Ju-ran (played by Park Mi-hyun), who was backing Kang Nora, revealed to the chairman a recording of the conversation between Albet Oh and Executive Director Oh and went further by pinning the Yeowoo Association slush fund issue on Executive Director Oh, provoking his fury. Afterwards, according to the Yeouido pirate crew's strategy, Executive Director Oh was ousted by Chairman Kang, creating an irresistible spectacle. During that process, Albet Oh was thrown out of his home and, despite losing everything, continued to support Hong Geum-bo unwaveringly, and Kang Nora traveled to Switzerland herself to try to withdraw slush funds from her account, showing that even as members of the same family they sincerely joined the operation, which conveyed a strengthened sense of solidarity and camaraderie among the characters.
The Yeouido pirate crew guessed that decisive clues related to the creation of slush funds would be in Deputy Minister Song's safe and secretly opened it, finding evidence such as seal stamps and proof that branch managers at Hanmin Securities had even lent their name on accounts to create slush funds. Moving quickly, the Yeouido pirate crew ultimately succeeded in reclaiming all domestic slush funds, and a furious Chairman Kang discovered the empty balance. At the end of the broadcast, Chairman Kang plotted to strike hard at Hong Geum-bo, the representative of the Yeouido pirate crew, and Shin Jeong-woo, who helps her, promising tense developments over the remaining two episodes.
Undercover Miss Hong, racing toward its conclusion with a fast-paced development, will air episode 15 on Sat., the 7th at 10:15 p.m.
