Group Limitless alumnus Seong Hyun-woo confessed to being assaulted in the past while trying to stop drunk driving.
Recently, Seong Hyun-woo revealed a shocking incident he experienced in his early 20s on his YouTube channel. In the released video, he recalled the situation, saying "a friend I trusted like an older brother tried to drive while drunk."
According to Seong Hyun-woo, the two had been drinking all night and were about to go home. The friend said he had brought the car and offered to drive, and to stop him Seong Hyun-woo stayed by his side until the end. He explained, "I persuaded him to call a designated driver, and he did call one. I said I would wait until I saw him get home safely."
But while waiting for the designated driver, the assault suddenly began. Seong Hyun-woo said, "Suddenly I was hit on the nose with a fist and struck hard on the ear. When I bowed my head, blood was dripping," and added, "I felt betrayal before pain. I stopped him because I was afraid an accident might happen, so I couldn't believe he hit me."
He immediately called the police, and the hospital diagnosed that he would need to be hospitalized for more than a week, he said. The friend later apologized and the matter was resolved by agreement. However, Seong Hyun-woo added, "I forgave him then, but the contact did not last long."
Earlier, he also revealed an experience of being threatened by a man with a sashimi knife during a trip to Jeju Island. He said an argument started when he tried to stop a customer who was verbally abusing a foreign part-time worker in a restaurant, and afterwards he was threatened outside the shop by a man holding a sashimi knife. Seong Hyun-woo recalled, "If I hadn't run away, something terrible would have happened." The man was reportedly punished on charge of special intimidation.
Meanwhile, Seong Hyun-woo became known after appearing on Produce 101 season 2, which aired in 2017. He debuted in 2019 as part of Limitless and is currently preparing a comeback under a new stage name.
