'Running Man' kicked off with a roller-coaster like progression from the start with a one-shot caramel showdown, and Kim Jong Kook hit the jackpot to seize the victory. By contrast, Song Ji-hyo, Yu Jae-seok and Haha went bankrupt, drawing laughter.
On the 1st episode of SBS variety show 'Running Man', members' rematches were shown as they tried to avenge the humiliation of having all their caramel taken by BTS member V in the past 'Tazza: The Paradise of the Swindler' segment.
On that day, the producers raised tension by introducing a new caramel acquisition method of '5-on-5 probability', different from before. The structure, in which a single choice could reverse the game, sharply divided the members' fortunes.
All-in showdowns continued from the start. Song Ji-hyo said, "I'll go bankrupt and come back," staking all her assets, and Yu Jae-seok also said, "I'll do it all at once. If you chicken out, step aside," countering her. Amid their gambits, Yu Jae-seok hit the jackpot and instantly rose to "caramel tycoon."
Meanwhile Song Ji-hyo went bankrupt as was, and Ji Ye-eun also said, "I'm finished too," consecutively losing all her assets. Haha, who was in debt from the start, gritted his teeth saying, "I'll get back up. Today is really a fun day," and later succeeded in a miraculous turnaround, writing a life reversal.
The finale was condensed into the 'king of kings' between Yu Jae-seok, Kim Jong Kook and Haha. In the final showdown to determine the real swindler, Kim Jong Kook caught a late lucky break and claimed the victory. He won a premium Korean beef set, known as hanwoo, along with the remark, "Winning isn't done with your head."
Yu Jae-seok expressed regret, saying, "Did I just lose the win right before my eyes like this?", and Haha ultimately became the automatic punishment target as a debtor. In addition, Jee Seokjin was added to the list of punishment recipients, increasing the laughter.
