Hollywood actress Emma Stone elevated a humble "cardigan" to the most glamorous red carpet look in the world.
Emma Stone (37), the lead of the film "Bugonia," attended the 2026 Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) red carpet last Sunday (local time) and was showered with flashes from the global press.
Her choice that day was a custom-made lilac beaded slip dress and a perfectly matching cardigan set from Louis Vuitton (Louis Vuitton). She transformed a layered item that one might comfortably throw on at home into dazzling awards-season fashion. The floor-length chiffon dress featured thin beaded straps and a scoop neckline, and the cardigan drew attention with its matching color and ornate bead embellishments for a cohesive look.
The Daily Mail wrote on the 1st (local time) that above all, what caught the eye about Stone's outfit was her cool attitude, which boldly sidestepped the awards' official dress code. The theme of this awards ceremony was a reinterpretation of 1920s and '30s Hollywood glamour, planned in collaboration with Elle magazine. While many stars dressed up in feather boas or elaborate Art Deco–style gowns, Stone played her card with "1990s-style minimalism." She wore a loosely tied low updo, paired with modest makeup highlighted by rose-colored lips, and conspicuously skipped flashy jewelry.
This continues the "unexpected restraint" that Stone and her long-time stylist Petra Flannery have been showing throughout this awards season. Earlier, Stone appeared in a Louis Vuitton crop top that revealed her midriff at the Golden Globe Awards, and at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) she appeared in a black halter-neck gown. At the Producers Guild of America Awards (PGA), she briefly stepped away from Louis Vuitton, for which she has been an ambassador since 2017, and appeared in a simple tank dress by Calvin Klein, drawing attention.
Meanwhile, Stone was proudly named a nominee for best actress at the 2026 Academy Awards (Oscars) to be held on the 15th. Fans around the world are watching to see what shocking fashion she, who can turn even basic items from an ordinary wardrobe into high-end looks, will surprise them with on the Oscar red carpet.
