Actor Kim Hee-ae narrates KBS's four-part anniversary documentary series 'Relics.' Part 2, "Invitation," heads to Italy. In part 2, it encounters the most controversial and at the same time the most mysterious relic in Catholicism. The released AI teaser, created in a unique format that recreates paintings using AI technology based on footage shot for the main program and even uses AI-generated music, raises expectations for the main program.
Relics, a KBS anniversary documentary series (producers Kim Dong-il, Lee Song-eun, Kim Eun-gon) that premieres at 10 p.m. on the 3rd, consists of part 1 "Covenant," part 2 "Invitation," part 3 "The word," and part 4 "Heart." The four-part series highlights journeys around the world in which people living with their own pains find comfort and hope through their respective religions.
The teaser, which creates an intense sense of immersion with delicate imagery like an oil painting, begins with the relic "the shroud" in the Turin Cathedral in Italy. This relic is a white linen said to have wrapped the body of Jesus, who died nailed to the cross, and the cloth bears the image of "the suffering and wounded Jesus" recorded in the Gospels. As many people come to the relic to pray, a visually impaired nun named "Maria" appears. Sister Maria confesses, "I thought it was time for me to become the main character of my life. I lost my sight, but I felt the presence of God I cannot see." She says, "I'm fine. Give my vision to others who have despaired." Having lost her sight, she will "invite" viewers in part 2 of Relics to walk the journey of faith together.
This journey of faith is accompanied by narration from devout Catholic actress Kim Hee-ae. Kim Hee-ae has the baptismal name "Maria," the same as the nun who is the protagonist of part 2, "Invitation." As such, she is expected to convey Sister Maria's story with a warm voice and add even more empathy.
KBS's four-part anniversary documentary series Relics, with narration by actress Kim Hee-ae, will premiere on Tuesday, March 3, at 10 p.m. with part 1, "Covenant." It will then air part 2, "Invitation," on Wednesday, March 4, at 10 p.m.; part 3, "The word," on Thursday, March 5, at 10 p.m.; and part 4, "Heart," on Thursday, March 12, at 10 p.m. on KBS1.
