Lim Ha Ryong said he started painting again because of his mother.
On Feb. 28, Lim Ha Ryong appeared on MBN 'Kim Joo-ha's Day & Night' (hereinafter Day & Night).
Lim Ha Ryong, who prides himself on his distinctive fashion sense, said, "Even in high school I went to a tailor shop to dress up. I always paid attention to fashion. The most I spent was when I did 'Angels of the City.' At that time, if the appearance fee was 250,000 won, I spent 500,000 won a week on wardrobe. When I wore an outfit out, the next week what to wear became a topic of conversation," he said.
Lim Ha Ryong said he even won a best dresser award in 1988. Lim Ha Ryong later opened a clothing store and said Seo Taiji and i-dle came as customers. He explained, "Seo Taiji and i-dle came. But I closed it soon after. When you go into a partnership it does well, but there was no profit left," he said.
Lim Ha Ryong said, "My childhood dream was to be a painter. When I was young, I painted in the countryside and even won a provincial governor's award. When I entered middle school and attended school in Seoul, I became the entertainment leader. I went on a trip to Cheongpyeong and saw Diamond Step. I unknowingly fell in love with dancing and forgot about being a painter. Later I became a comedian and wrote skits," he said.
He added, "My mother became ill and had a cardiac arrest, so I stopped broadcasting for six months and did nothing; it was very empty. From that day I started to paint. When my mother was ill I only thought of my mother. I expressed my mother's cerebral infarction as branches. At first I painted those things, but later it became brighter. I painted a lot when I was lonely," he added.
Lim Ha Ryong said, "She received life-prolonging treatment. She lay down for three years and it was very hard. I resemble my mother," and released a family photo.
