Director Ryu Seung-wan of the film "Humint" and actor Zo In-sung meet former anchor Son Seok-hee.
On Feb. 28, the production team of MBC's Son Seok-hee's Questions (abbreviated Questions) posted a preview video of episode 3 on YouTube. The released video shows former anchor Son Seok-hee meeting director Ryu Seung-wan and Zo In-sung.
Director Ryu Seung-wan and Zo In-sung are meeting audiences with the recently released film "Humint" (director Ryu Seung-wan, provided/distributed by NEW, produced by Oeyunaegang). Accordingly, they met former anchor Son Seok-hee and are presumed to have discussed each person's convictions about films and acting and the significance of theatrical release of the film "Humint".
In fact, director Ryu Seung-wan is one of the directors who insist on theatrical films. Even recently, when many films have chosen OTT platforms led by Netflix amid a box office slump, his conviction continues. If you add up the cumulative audience numbers of his popular films, including the 10-million-hit film "Veteran" and "No Mercy for the Rude", "Berlin", "Smuggling" and "Mogadishu," they total a whopping about 53.7 million viewers. That number approaches the entire population of Korea.
What did director Ryu Seung-wan and former anchor Son Seok-hee talk about regarding the meaning of theaters and films? In the short preview video, director Ryu Seung-wan said, "I think that's the magic of film." It is a passage that can be predicted to reveal his convictions about films.
Zo In-sung sat beside him. Zo In-sung has been the lead in all three films with director Ryu Seung-wan: "Mogadishu," "Smuggling" and "Humint." Especially in "Humint," he performs dense and intense action that draws admiration. Described as an actor who is always sincere about his craft, he emphasized his seriousness about acting, saying, "I try not to take acting itself lightly."
About Zo In-sung, director Ryu Seung-wan praised, "The person himself stimulates imagination," praising Zo In-sung's charm after working together on several films. Is that the reason he made three films with Zo In-sung? Former anchor Son Seok-hee asked, "Why was director Ryu's choice Zo In-sung?" questioning the bond between director Ryu Seung-wan and actor Zo In-sung as filmmakers. Accordingly, attention is further focused on the stories director Ryu Seung-wan and Zo In-sung will tell on "Questions."
Questions is an interview talk show hosted by former anchor Son Seok-hee, who has long asked unvarnished questions as one of Korea's most trusted journalists, under the theme that the power to change an era has always begun not with those who have the "answers" but with those who ask proper "questions." The Son Seok-hee's Questions episode featuring director Ryu Seung-wan and Zo In-sung will air at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4.
