Broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo returned to his home network KBS, handing out daesang rice cakes and reuniting with cherished acquaintances.
On the 1st episode aired on KBS2 of 'The CEO's ears are donkey ears,' scenes showed Jun Hyun-moo visiting the KBS announcer bureau, Chef Shin Gye-sook, and Chef Jung Ji-seon meeting.
Allegations arose that Jung Ji-seon imitated IVE's Liz, who appeared as a special MC. When a photo showing similar hairstyles was released, Jung Ji-seon explained, "I did it because of a pop-up store," saying she collaborated with a character that resembled her. When asked if she would work with Chef Jung Ji-seon, Liz said, "Her way of speaking is strong, so at first you might misunderstand, but after time you will realize it's for me," while also taking a jab, "If it's good it's the boss's fault; if it's bad it's the staff's fault," prompting laughter.
Chef Jung Ji-seon met Chef Shin Gye-sook, the 'grand dame of Chinese cuisine,' made an upscale authentic dish palbo ori and talked. Shin Gye-sook, a 'hobby enthusiast,' revealed she does drones, biking, guitar, saxophone and more, and boasted, "The saxophone has risen a lot in price; it's the only successful investment," adding that she performed a birthday celebration on the saxophone at the table and received applause.
Next, chefs from Shin Gye-sook's restaurant and Jung Ji-seon's restaurant met and greeted one another. Shin Gye-sook's restaurant chefs said there was much to learn but that it was so hard they lost 20kg. Jung Ji-seon's restaurant chefs countered the hardship battle, saying, "When we go to events we lose weight rapidly." Jung Ji-seon quipped, "You should thank me because you learn the job and lose weight," which drew laughter. In particular, regarding company gatherings, Jung Ji-seon said she organizes various get-togethers and recently held one at Chef Anh Sung-jae's fine dining restaurant, drawing attention.
Jung Ji-seon asked Shin Gye-sook to help develop a new menu for overseas branches. Shin Gye-sook suggested making it a competition because doing it plainly would be boring. While showcasing 'Wuding jeongban?x,' which mixed eggplant, garlic stems, abalone, shrimp and chicken in a sauce, Jung Ji-seon made the mistake of putting in salt after failing to distinguish between salt and sugar. Jung Ji-seon said, "Most Chinese kitchen setups are similar so I mistakenly thought the setups would be the same," but Liz said, "At this point isn't that like not being able to tell dance from song?" which embarrassed Jung Ji-seon. Nevertheless Jung Ji-seon swept up four of five votes to win. Shin Gye-sook analyzed, "She put in a lot of salt so the seasoning turned out to be right."
Announcer Eom Ji-in decorated the first scene of the first episode of the KBS2 weekend drama 'Prescribing you love' and showed her strength as an anentertainer. Meanwhile, in the announcer's office, Jun Hyun-moo, who won an entertainment daesang at his home network, visited and handed out daesang rice cakes. After meeting the announcer chief, Jun Hyun-moo toured the duty room and continued nostalgic talk. He recalled that the radio studio was his hideout and when asked bluntly whether he was ever alone there he kept mum, saying, "up to that point." Jun Hyun-moo handed out daesang rice cakes to seniors and juniors including announcers Choi Yoon-kyung, Baek Jeong-won, Park Tae-won, Nam Hyun-jong and even to the company bank security guards, marveling, "They don't change," and, "They don't age at all."
Arriving at the entertainment center on the sixth floor, Jun Hyun-moo said, "I thought I had to be recognized by the entertainment bureau somehow. I wanted to show that, although just an announcer you all don't care about, I have this level of ability," which moved people. While handing out daesang rice cakes to CPs, PDs and writers to show his gratitude, Jun Hyun-moo introduced PD Lee Dong-hoon, who created the 'unprecedented Jun Hyun-moo show,' saying, "A person ahead of his time." The Chuseok special 'Unprecedented Jun Hyun-moo Show' recalled 'SNL Korea' in format but ended as a pilot and became an ill-fated program; Jun Hyun-moo said, "We filmed more than 10 times, and for one episode we took three days to shoot." Lee Dong-hoon shared behind-the-scenes, "Back then I was dragged into the director general's office, scolded and sent to another team. My PD life wobbled," and Jun Hyun-moo recalled, "My freelance life wobbled too."
Jun Hyun-moo said a ban on announcer dances was issued because of PD Lee Dong-hoon. He explained that he danced excessively while appearing on 'I like the song,' and Eom Ji-in reprimanded him, "That's why you write an official statement." Afterwards Jun Hyun-moo met program PDs and introduced Nam Hyun-jong and Kim Jin-woong announcers, opening the path to variety shows and creating a heartwarming moment. In this context, announcer Eom Ji-in abruptly dismissed freelance rumors, saying, "It's because Park Myung Soo keeps doing that in the studio."
Jun Hyun-moo also met PD Lee Chang-soo, with whom he worked on as many as four programs at KBS including 'The CEO's ears are donkey ears' and 'Crazy Rich Korean.' Lee Chang-soo expressed disappointment, saying, "I think I hold the largest share of the daesang, but they didn't say my name." Still, Lee Chang-soo praised, "Jun Hyun-moo is like Ohtani. He's capable of both hosting and humor and also has sexiness," and added, "There is no MC with as many romance rumors as him," which drew laughter.
Finally, Jun Hyun-moo met Lee Hwang-seon, head of the entertainment center. Lee Hwang-seon, who employed many announcers such as Kang Soo-jung, Lee Jeong-min and Jun Hyun-moo, said, "We shared Jun Hyun-moo's guest appearances and MC debut," and added, "The women announcers who were Jun Hyun-moo's contemporaries were so excellent, and the announcer office said if they take a male announcer they can also use a female announcer, so I reluctantly brought him in while crying."
Jun Hyun-moo said, "The reason the daesang I received at KBS has more meaning is that at MBC I received it after it was already somewhat established, but at KBS it was given by people who saw me raw and real." He especially expressed a desire to do a variety show with junior announcers. The center head recommended the format 'I'm SOLO,' and Jun Hyun-moo showed interest in appearing, raising expectations.
