Idol group SHINee member Minho (real name Choi Min-ho) met short-track national team athlete Kim Gil-li and shared thoughts on winning two gold medals at the Milan Winter Olympics.
Minho uploaded a video titled "meeting Olympic MVP short-track two-time champion Kim Gil-li" to his personal YouTube channel on the 24th. The released video featured Kim Gil-li, who was recently named Korea's MVP after claiming two short-track gold medals at the Milan–Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics in Italy.
Kim Gil-li had competed in the 1500m race the day before. Minho said, "I was at the venue yesterday and watched. I cheered until my throat was hoarse," expressing his fandom. He added, "It's exactly my third day here. On the day I arrived they won the relay gold, and they won a medal on the day I watched yesterday, so I felt like my energy was passed on," saying he was pleased.
Kim Gil-li replied to Minho, saying, "It's Seung-yo (victory fairy)," creating a warm moment. She also expressed surprise and admiration when Minho, known as a "sports idol," paid attention to and empathized with aspects sensitive to athletes, saying, "Maybe because you like and are good at sports, you seem to understand well."
Minho asked especially about the meaning of the victory ceremony Kim Gil-li had shown. Kim Gil-li had earlier performed a victory ceremony with a distinctive finger movement. He confessed, "As soon as I did this ceremony, I placed first many times afterward. It feels like it comes out according to the vibe."
Afterward, Kim Gil-li took the gold medals out of the shopping bag that had held them. Although she tried not to show it, tables around the restaurant that had been watching Kim Gil-li erupted in applause and cheers all at once.
Kim Gil-li also said, "I want to appear on 'I Live Alone.' But I don't live alone. At the athletes' village I live alone," mentioning MBC variety show I Live Alone, where Minho appears, which added to the laughter.
