'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' girl group fairy Sunye returned as a home-cooking fairy.
On the 27th, the NEW pen chef who boldly threw down the gauntlet made his first appearance on KBS 2TV 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' (hereinafter 'Fun-Staurant'). The protagonist is Sunye, leader of the national girl group Wonder Girls, a legendary idol who opened the door to the K-pop golden age and now a working mom raising three daughters while living her life to the fullest. Through 'Fun-Staurant,' Sunye revealed everything from her cooking routine as a mother of three, to her family, to her love for her late grandmother.
That day Sunye appeared with a slim figure comparable to active idols. Vitamin MC Hyojung, who is active as an idol, even stuck out her tongue in admiration, saying, "Senior. You look like you did during your active years." Sunye, who manages herself so perfectly, is also fulfilling her role as a working mom. Sunye showed pride in her cooking, saying, "I raise three kids and cook three meals a day with my own hands. If I hadn't sung, I would have run a restaurant."
What drew attention next was Sunye's "frozen celebrity" side, awkward in observational variety shows. She suddenly greeted the camera and, seeming embarrassed, repeatedly spoke to the Fun-Staurant production staff. But she soon seemed to adapt and said, "I will start cooking," then freely shared cooking tips containing 14 years of homemaker expertise. Among them, an unmissable item was Sunye's handmade seasoning three-piece set that captures both taste and health.
In fact, while Sunye was actively promoting at home and abroad with Wonder Girls, she surprised the public by announcing her marriage. At the time, Sunye was 24. Sunye recalled, "After marrying, I lived in Canada and then came to Korea," and added, "I even packed my cookbook and took it to Canada." She also showcased home-cooked recipes she perfected after many trials and errors, such as sweet braised pork ribs, non-chewy seasoned dried shredded squid, and almond anchovy snacks.
At that time she received a message that her aunt and uncle were coming to visit. Sunye recreated her grandmother's table, recalling childhood tastes so her aunt and uncle could also reminisce while eating. She recreated dishes her grandmother used to make, such as radish rice, braised radish, radish kimchi stew with shredded meat, and tofu stew. Sunye's cooking sense and skills stood out as she reproduced flavors from memory and added other ideas along the way.
A short while later, her aunt and uncle arrived carrying gifts for Sunye as if they were her birth parents. Sunye, her aunt and her uncle shared the nostalgic grandmother's table and began telling old stories. Sunye showed talent as a singer from childhood, and her grandmother sincerely supported her so she could become a singer. Raised by her grandmother's hands, Sunye misses her grandmother even more; during activities in the U.S. in 2009, Sunye experienced the pain of losing her grandfather and her father in succession. Her father's last request was to make sure she was protected, and marriage and childbirth helped her overcome the pain of family loss.
In particular, Sunye said, "The children feel like a great gift to me," and added, "After marrying, I felt my grandmother's heart more. How painful it must have been to send a child away first. After coming to Korea and raising my children, I think of my grandmother more." The Fun-Staurant production staff added video footage of Sunye's grandmother alive to the VCR. Seeing this, Sunye was deeply moved and shed tears. It was a moment that moved viewers to tears as well.
Sunye returned as a home-cooking fairy from a national girl group fairy. Now a mother raising three daughters, Sunye has come to understand her late grandmother's heart even more. It is expected that she will share frank stories and present dishes on 'Fun-Staurant,' and show what kind of activities she will undertake as a pen chef.
