Disney+ variety show Fate War 49 has accepted the wishes of the bereaved families and decided to reedit the relevant portions.
On the afternoon of the 27th, Fate War 49 said, "We honor the noble sacrifices of the late Fire Sergeant Kim Cheol-hong and the late Police Corporal Lee Jay-hyun, and we thank the firefighters and police officers who continue to risk their lives and serve for the safety of the public," adding, "The production team has listened to the bereaved families and other concerned parties' remarks. We have accepted their wishes and decided to reedit the relevant portions," the statement said.
It added, "We offer our deep apologies once again to the bereaved families who were hurt by our shortcomings and lapses, to the firefighters and police officers, and to viewers. We will take the feedback we received to heart and reorganize and strengthen our production processes," and bowed once more.
Earlier, Fate War 49 dealt with content that speculated on the causes of death of fallen firefighters and fallen police officers through fortune-telling on the broadcast.
In the process, the deceased's face, birth date and other personal information were disclosed, and contrary to what was pre-notified to the bereaved families, provocative expressions mainly appeared, causing controversy. When the actual bereaved family of Fire Private First Class Kim Cheol-hong strongly protested, saying, "Contrary to the explanation that honored the noble sacrifice, only provocative expressions were exchanged," strong public criticism formed against the production team of Fate War 49.
