Wonder Girls alumnus Sunye recalled her father, who died after a long battle with illness.
On the 27th broadcast of KBS 2TV Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant (hereinafter Fun-Staurant), Wonder Girls alumnus Sunye appeared.
During the broadcast, Sunye brought up her father while dining with her family. Sunye said, "My father lived for 20 years with almost no lung function and eventually his organs failed and he passed away."
Sunye's uncle recalled the situation at the time, saying, "When we were active in the U.S., my father was once taken by ambulance to 119," and added, "My mother said she needed to be prepared emotionally, but Sunye called and begged them to keep him alive until the end."
Sunye said, "I was in the U.S. at the time so I hurried back to Korea, and he stayed in a coma for about six months before he passed away."
Her aunt then said, "This is the first time I've told this story, but when my father was very ill before he died, he said, 'If it's Nuna, I think I could leave Sunye in her care,' " and showed tears.
Sunye also recalled that her grandfather passed away around the same time. She said, "My grandfather died before my father," and added, "At a time when I was living a life others would envy, death approached me twice." She continued, "Watching one person become a handful of ashes made me think a lot about how people ultimately end up like this."
Meanwhile, Sunye stopped group activities in 2013, married a husband who is a former missionary, and has three daughters.<
