Famous Japanese film director Hamasaki Shinji (49) was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drunk driving.
On the 26th, according to local Japanese outlets such as the Yomiuri Shimbun, the metropolitan police arrested Hamasaki Shinji at the scene on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Hamasaki Shinji is accused of driving his Porsche while intoxicated around 11:38 p.m. on the 25th and caused an accident in which he crashed into a taxi and the exterior wall of dwellings.
Police who responded to a witness report conducted an on-site breath test, which reportedly showed a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit, and Hamasaki Shinji admitted the allegation in his questioning, saying, "I drank and drove."
Meanwhile, Hamasaki Shinji worked in the commercial advertising industry before debuting as a director with the 2019 film "I Tried Dying Once." He is also the director of the 2025 film "Bebam Bebam Bebam Vampire".
