Channel A 'Baseball queen' has confirmed production of season 2 thanks to the passionate love for the women's baseball team "Black Queens," formed by 15 sports legends.
Channel A 'Baseball queen' features track and field athlete Kim Min-ji, rhythmic gymnast Shin Su-ji, handball players Kim On-a and Park Ha-yan, judo athlete Kim Seong-yeon, swimmer Jeong Yu-in, speed skater Kim Bo-reum, softball player Ayaka, boxer Choi Hyun-mi, shooter Park Bo-ram, rower Lee Su-yeon, soccer player Joo Su-jin, ice hockey player Shin So-jeong, badminton player Jang Su-young, and tennis player Song A, totaling 15 sports legends who join Korea's 50th women's baseball team Black Queens as members in a sports variety show about growing toward winning the national women's baseball championship.
During about four months of training, Black Queens showed a remarkable growth trend, recording a 4-3 record, and discovered a new "ace" that stirred the women's baseball world—pitcher Jang Su-young, hitter Song A and "Ontani" Kim On-a—drawing wholehearted support from the fandom "Kkamangi." Under the careful guidance of Director General Pak Se-ri, manager Choo Shin-soo and coaches Lee Dae-hyung and Yoon Seok-min, the legends of each sport becoming "one team" delivered a touching process and established itself as a "killing content" that carries the professional baseball offseason.
Fueled by this interest and support, 'Baseball queen' confirmed production of season 2 following three extensions in season 1, and abruptly released a recruitment video for the roster that will join the new season. The recruitment video, which begins with the phrase "We are looking for players to patrol the field together," alternates between the first audition scene of the 15 Black Queens who did not know baseball well and footage of their current charismatic performances as baseball players, delivering thrills. According to the season 2 recruitment notice, former athletes can apply for the roster regardless of baseball experience. With casting for all positions—pitcher, catcher, infielder and outfielder—anticipated, expectations are rising over whether a second Kim On-a, Song A or Jang Su-young will emerge in season 2.
Meanwhile, Black Queens trailed 9-7 through the bottom of the third in a fierce battle in the final eighth game against the Heroines. The fate of Black Queens, determined to win the final game, and the moving finale will be revealed in the final episode of 'Baseball queen,' airing at 10 p.m. on Tue., March 3.
