Kim Dong Wan, formerly of the group Shinhwa, who sparked controversy with continued remarks about legalizing prostitution, shared his thoughts on marriage on social media (SNS).
On the 25th, Kim Dong Wan posted on SNS, "When I meet someone who lets me live as myself, I suddenly feel like I want to get married." The post received more than 2,000 likes and about 370 comments. When a fan asked, "Will you get married?", Kim Dong Wan replied, "Am I getting married?"
The post went up right after Kim Dong Wan repeatedly called on SNS for the legalization of prostitution.
Earlier, on the 17th, Kim Dong Wan wrote on Threads, "As we try to eliminate entertainment districts, the whole country is becoming an entertainment district," arguing that the state should manage prostitution. He said, "Given that one-person households are increasing, we should not just gloss over (the issue of prostitution) with the logic that leaving it alone is enough."
As the controversy continued, on the 20th Kim Dong Wan added, "What I am concerned about is the inflow of minors, the lack of disease control, and exploitation within illegal structures," and said, "An attitude that turns away from reality without protection and oversight talks about morality while evading responsibility."
Then on the 24th, he added, "I'm leaving a statement because I've suddenly received many calls from seniors and elders since yesterday," and, "Don't worry too much. I said what I wanted to say, and the reporters are just doing their jobs."
