'Problem Child in House' chef Jeong Ji-seon revealed employee perks for running her establishments.
On the 26th episode of KBS2TV variety show 'Problem Child in House', the trending female Chinese cuisine chefs known from Culinary Class Wars, Jeong Ji-seon and Lee Moon-jeong, appeared. Lee Moon-jeong, who rarely appears in the media, was welcomed even more.
Song Eun I asked, "Isn't Lee Moon-jeong again a hot topic on Culinary Class Wars season 2? How did you come up with the naming 'Chinese cuisine witch'?"
Lee Moon-jeong said, "I've been running a YouTube channel since 2020, and I ended up using the name 'Chinese cuisine witch,'" adding, "I put meaning into the syllable 'ma.' The 'ma' of mala and the 'ma' of demon. It was meant to convey that once you get to know that woman, you fall for her charm and can't get out."
Hong Jin Kyung asked, "Do some appear because of their children?" and questioned the reason for appearing. Although chef Jeong Ji-seon's strong recommendation played a part, seeing her daughter's fandom for chef Jeong Ji-seon, Lee Moon-jeong said, "When I appeared on Culinary Class Wars 1, my daughter saw Jeong Ji-seon and said she was so cool and asked me to get Jeong Ji-seon's autograph. But I have pride as a mother; I do well too, so I felt that way. Later she told me not to ask for an autograph from me, but then she asked me to get it," saying that was her reason for deciding to appear.
Chef Jeong Ji-seon said, "I hoped more female chefs would become known, so I recommended various people such as Professor Shin Gye-sook and chef Lee Moon-jeong," adding that she had grown close to Lee Moon-jeong because, "we've known each other for more than 10 years. Women are rare in the Chinese cuisine field, so I wanted to get close," and said, "I tell Lee Moon-jeong a lot about difficult matters. She then tidily sorts them out. Lee Moon-jeong must have a hard time too, but she is a mental pillar for me."
Chef Lee Moon-jeong nodded, saying, "Women chefs in Chinese cuisine are truly rare." Chef Jeong Ji-seon said, "Actually, I try to hire many female chefs at my establishments, but they rarely endure. It seems hard for them. For example, if there are about 20 staff members, there's only one female chef. So I have no female colleagues," adding, "I was really curious about chef Lee Moon-jeong. I wondered how one could exist in such an environment," reiterating how reassuring Lee Moon-jeong's presence is.
Chef Jeong Ji-seon now operates two establishments and oversees 42 employees. Chef Jeong Ji-seon said, "I provided a car to employees who work diligently. Employees with more than five years of service can be supported with the vehicle they want," which left Lee Moon-jeong wide-eyed. Lee Moon-jeong said, "Five years? I've been here 25 years." Chef Jeong Ji-seon coolly said, "I ask long-serving employees whether they want a luxury item or a car. Any brand of luxury item is fine."
Yang Se-chan said with an excited expression, "Won't a lot of applicants increase after seeing this?" Then chef Jeong Ji-seon said, "I thought so too, but definitely not.
