'Sung Si Kyung honestly opened up about the difficulties of his activities in Japan and behind-the-scenes work with his new manager.
In the video "What is Choi Hwa-jung's all-time dish praised by the famed gourmet Sung Si Kyung? (26-year friend, housewarming food)" on the YouTube channel "Choi Hwajungieyo," released on the 26th, Sung Si Kyung appeared.
That day Choi Hwa-jung mentioned Sung Si Kyung, who recently appeared alone on a Japanese broadcast, and laughed, "These days it's a craze in Japan. 'If there is love, you lose weight,' they say." She added, "Even though Japanese subtitles came up, he sang perfectly without missing a beat. Seeing him go alone made me choked up and I teared up," and praised him for leaving the country without a coordinator or stylist.
Sung Si Kyung explained in detail why activities in Japan are not easy. He said, "I'm not from one of the top three agencies and I don't have a Japanese company. I don't even have my company. It's an unprecedented case," and said, "There are almost no cases of a singer who was active in Korea studying Japanese and going alone." He went on to complain about practical barriers, saying, "Japan is a market that likes safety, so if there is no demand, it is difficult to appear on broadcasts at all. Even music programs require releasing an album and spending promotion money to appear, so would a record company invest in me?" He added, "Even if I want to appear on a major network, there is nothing I can do if they don't call me."
In particular, Sung Si Kyung mentioned the limitations of the existing management environment and introduced the working process with his new manager. He said, "The manager who newly took charge this time has good connections and works well," and revealed, "While talking with Fuji TV, they said 'let's try appearing here once,' and the opportunity came." He added, "I received hundreds of Japanese songs I didn't know at all. I studied from the beginning," describing the thorough preparation process.
He also described the characteristics of Japanese broadcast stages. Sung Si Kyung said, "This is not about singing well but about a system that requires matching the pitch exactly," and lamented, "I wanted to sing with emotion, but the key didn't fit so I had to adjust with head voice." Nevertheless, he said he practiced Japanese pronunciation, pitch and expression in detail to perform the stage.
He candidly revealed the trial and error he experienced while challenging Japanese broadcasts alone and the collaborative process with his new manager, reporting that he is working hard to create opportunities amid difficult overseas activities.<
