Super Junior member Shindong confessed heartbreaking family stories on "Fate War 49," including shamanic grandparents, their dementia, and estrangement from his mother, drawing sympathy.
On Jan. 25, Disney+ original variety show "Fate War 49" episode 8 was released. In it, the six surviving fate shamans were shown doing one-on-one readings for celebrities.
Among them, fortune teller Seolhwa did a reading for Shindong on "Fate War 49." She asked Shindong, "Isn't there a shaman grandmother in your family?" and revealed, "If that grandmother passes away, it could be somewhat dangerous. Someone seems to want Shindong to hold a bell," shocking viewers.
In fact, Shindong's paternal grandmother was a shaman. Seolhwa added, "It's not receiving a spirit. The sacred objects and ancestral ritual objects are strong. There was someone in the family who was a shaman, and that grandmother is touching it."
Also revealed was an anecdote about Shindong's spiritual power. Jun Hyun-moo said, "I can't say who it was, but Shindong told a certain girl group, 'That's strange, be careful,' and that very girl group had a dating rumor," and Seolhwa advised, "It's right that you live like a talented performer who dances and sings. But living only like this is weak."
She also told Shindong, "Your business luck opened up this year," and subtitles revealed that Shindong actually received a business offer last year while filming "Fate War 49," adding to the surprise. However, Seolhwa warned Shindong, "There is a strong energy now that money leaks, so be careful. Money breaks oddly. Your fate is not to cook yourself but to be an owner. You have strong fortune for food, so if you go into the food business, it would be best."
Shindong confessed, "A good opportunity came up, so I think I'll do (the food business)." He said he was preparing an F&B business at the time. Seolhwa said, "Build the foundation now, and you'll move big in 2028."
Seolhwa asked, "Is there anyone in the family with a nervous system, brain, or dementia issue?" and Shindong revealed that his grandfather has dementia, unable to hide his surprise. While the panelists reacted, Seolhwa told Shindong, "It wasn't exactly inherited genetically, but there is contact. You shouldn't overwork, but your fate has no rest," urging him to take care of his health.
Seolhwa also said, "There are mothers who are worried about how to save the household, and there's an energy wanting to play the role of leader," and it was revealed that Shindong's mother actually lost her entire fortune in a failed investment in 2015, adding to the shock. Shindong confessed, "To be honest, I don't keep in touch with my parents now. It's because of money. When I give living expenses, they say, 'Don't give monthly, give it all at once.' But they once took such a large amount and then were scammed or invested poorly and lost it all."
Seolhwa asked, "In such cases, don't they want a second family?" Shindong said, "It seems there is that loneliness," mentioning on the show his strong desire to marry and that he had once almost married.
