In I'm SOLO (I'm SOLO) season 30, a "love-line upheaval" triggered by "simultaneous choices" unfolded.
On the episode broadcast on the 25th of ENA and SBS Plus's real dating program I'm SOLO, fissures were detected between Young-sik and Young-ja, Young-ho and Young-suk, whose relationship was disrupted by a "failed choice", and Young-chul and Jeong-suk, whose affection bloomed after a "late-night meal date", revealing the "polar moment" of "Solonara 30th street".
Earlier, Young-suk, shocked by Young-ho choosing Hyun-suk, voiced her frustration to the other solo women. She said in anger, "Would he want the person I like as his first choice to eat the lonely set meal? If it were me, I wouldn't have done that." Sun-ja sought out Young-soo and tested his feelings by saying, "Because Young-soo keeps worrying, I'm worried too." Young-soo replied, "Seeing my worries, Sun-ja should be worried too," showing he was still conscious of Young-ja, his "first choice."
Young-sik and Young-ja began a tense date under a "fuel shortage" warning light. Novice driver Young-sik appealed, "Isn't my driving stable at this point?", but Young-ja threw a blunt remark, "If you can't even go straight, they should take your license." The two continued to show polar tendencies. Unlike easygoing Young-ja, who shampoos every other day, Young-sik was a meticulous man who didn't even wipe his face with a towel, and when Young-ja asked, "Are you okay if my hair smells?", Young-sik laughed, "I'll sniff it periodically." But Young-ja shot back, "You can't just say OK to everything. You need to get your act together." On the way back from the date, as Young-sik tried to refuel the car, he got confused about the fuel type and called a friend who had lent him the car for S.O.S. Seeing this, Young-ja revealed some cooled feelings toward Young-sik, saying, "I usually like people who can handle everything quickly and well."
Gwang-su, who had a 1:1 date with Ok-sun, drank the kimchi soup of expectation, saying, "Is this (a couple) destined?", at Ok-sun's lively reactions. But Ok-sun early on drew a line, saying, "I don't think there's romantic excitement between men and women." In a subsequent interview with producers, Ok-sun said she wanted to focus on the man she likes (Young-soo), not the man who likes her (Gwang-su).
On a 2:1 date with Young-soo and Young-chul, Sun-ja answered the question "what kind of person do you like" by indirectly confessing she was more interested in Young-soo than Young-chul, saying, "someone direct and decisive." Young-chul acknowledged Sun-ja's feelings by saying, "You two suit each other well." In the ensuing 1:1 conversation, Sun-ja asked Young-soo why he chose her, and Young-soo said, "I could clearly see that person (Young-ja) was resolute, and Sun-ja thankfully expressed gratitude to me a lot. Normally I'm the type who is drawn to the person I like, but being here my dating standards are changing." Sun-ja replied, "As things stand, Young-soo is my first choice," and Young-soo conveyed that if Young-ja decided on Young-sik, he would also sort out his feelings.
In a 1:1 conversation with Young-chul, Sun-ja offered only a reserved courtesy, saying, "Thank you for choosing me." Afterwards, in front of producers Sun-ja confessed her burden, saying, "Can I handle Young-chul?" and "I don't know where to start and what to take care of," expressing her unease. By contrast, Jeong-suk, who ate the lonely set meal alone, told producers, "I'm not really curious about that person's feelings because I will decide that on my own," indicating she would get to know Young-chul.
In a date with Young-ho, who made a reversal choice, Hyun-suk hinted, "With this choice, I think all the women's first choices have changed." Surprised, Young-ho said in an interview with producers, "Honestly, I wasn't grateful for that remark (Hyun-suk's advice), but I thought I should resolve things (with Young-suk)." Toward the end of the date Hyun-suk made clear to Young-ho that she did not have romantic feelings, saying, "I'm not the type to approach others normally." Young-suk, unable to shake the shock of Young-ho choosing Hyun-suk, could not regain focus even during her date with Sang-chul. Continuing to stare blankly, Young-suk said, "I need to sort out my feelings about Young-ho," and asked, "Would you be uncomfortable if I talk with Young-ho?" Sang-chul responded coolly, "I still need to talk more anyway."
During the daytime dates, the solo women all paid the bill, showing their 'Teto women' demeanor. In the subsequent night dates, Young-suk chose Young-ho and Jeong-suk chose Young-chul. Sun-ja and Ok-sun simultaneously chose Young-soo and faced off again, Young-ja chose Young-sik, and Hyun-suk chose Sang-chul. Gwang-su received no choice from any solo woman and ended up eating the "lonely set meal."
Sang-chul, who had already given up on Hyun-suk, barely met her eyes during their late-night meal date. Then Sang-chul bluntly said, "I'll get to know Young-suk and Sun-ja better." Hyun-suk nodded, "Okay," and they ended the date in suffocating silence.
Young-suk, whose disappointment with Young-ho had accumulated, cornered Young-ho from the start. Young-ho said, "From my point of view, I didn't think it was something to be sorry about. Given I'm in I'm SOLO, I thought of it as an opportunity," but added, "Still, I strangely felt sorry." In the end Young-ho tried to soothe Young-suk by saying, "You're still my first choice," but Young-suk was hurt and asked, "Did you even add the word 'still'?" Young-ho said, "My feelings are that they could change," and explained, "If things deepen, that leads to the final choice, and if you choose someone else, I will step back." Young-suk expressed disappointment, saying, "There is little consideration for me. Can we talk about the future in this situation?"
Young-chul and Jeong-suk confirmed an "unexpected back-and-forth" during their date. Young-chul expressed interest, saying, "The people I wanted to talk with were Sun-ja and Jeong-suk," and the two introverts, who had similar temperaments, even promised to take a walk the next day. Jeong-suk flirted in Teto woman fashion with long-distance Young-chul, saying, "I have to experience it, but I'm willing to try." After the date Jeong-suk expressed satisfaction, "We match well and our values align," and Young-chul also raised his affinity, saying, "I feel comfortable with this person." In the following preview, the clash between Sun-ja and Ok-sun over Young-soo was shown, Young-soo confessed his feelings to Young-ja, and Sun-ja was spotted suddenly passing by Young-soo with a cold look, saying, "I don't know," foreshadowing the turmoil expected next week.
