The original series that moved from tvN to TVING, "The Great Escape: The Story," returns to viewers with a new season.
On the 26th, OSEN reported that TVING's new entertainment show "The Great Escape: The Story" season 2 will begin full-scale production and filming this year, marking its sixth season. Actor Yeo Jingoo, who was selected for KATUSA and enlisted last year, naturally stepped down, raising interest in whether there will be changes to the existing cast.
TVING has confirmed production of "The Great Escape: The Story" season 2, and it appears that director Lee Woo-hyung, who directed season 5 of "The Great Escape: The Story," will remain as director. At that time Kang Ho-dong, Kim Dong-hyun, Yoo Byungjae, Ko Kyung-pyo, Baekhyun, and Yeo Jingoo were active, and it is reported that discussions are underway about appearances with the other celebrities except for enlisted Yeo Jingoo.
OSEN confirmed that some entertainers have received love calls and are reviewing appearances, raising curiosity about whether the full lineup from season 5 will be seen or whether there will be some changes.
Meanwhile, "The Great Escape" is an adventure variety show staged across time and space, and season 1 premiered in 2018 to positive reviews. Its realistic treatment of the escape room theme in a variety show format and the directing of PD Jung Jong-yeon, who successfully led "The Genius" series, were praised. It built a solid fanbase strong enough to continue up to four seasons within just three years.
Later, PD Jung Jong-yeon left CJ ENM and the series was temporarily halted, leaving disappointment, but last July it premiered on TVING rather than tvN. After "The Great Escape 4," it returned in a new format called "The Great Escape: The Story" after a full four years, and it also ranked first in weekly paid new subscriber contribution for four consecutive weeks.<
