Actor Kim Gyuri and DJ DOC member Lee Ha-neul responded in their own ways to rumors that they received a two-month business suspension after singing at a restaurant operated by Lee Ha-neul and Jung Jae-yong and being crack down on by the district office.
Kim Gyuri opened up on her social media on the 24th, saying she was shocked by the article and checked around. She explained, "On the YouTube "Kim Gyuri tv 몹시" we held a regular meeting on Feb. 1, and besides those who enjoyed it, some cyber wrecker targeted us and it seems they filed complaints with the district office."
She added, "I was so shocked I contacted Lee Ha-neul directly, and he concluded that business is operating normally," and said, "I was puzzled because it seemed like people were trying to create a problem when there was none." She also said, "I didn't know much, so I asked ChatGPT. If you're going to criticize others, shouldn't you know the facts?" and added, "Thanks to that I studied, too."
Kim Gyuri apologized, saying, "I'm sorry to the restaurant owners that asking for one song to create a more enjoyable atmosphere led to such a commotion," and said, "I will be more careful in the future." At the same time she warned of a tough response, saying, "I heard the restaurant is going to file charges over comment manipulation that went beyond business disruption to personal attacks," and, "We will also hand over materials on those who left malicious comments on my channel."
Lee Ha-neul also explained the situation directly during a live broadcast the same day. He said, "We started renovating the kitchen on the second floor, and from March 1 the first floor will close for a few days for full renovation," and said, "Since the malicious commenters told us what to nitpick, we'll fix it so there is nothing to pick on."
He emphasized, "We'll gut and renovate the kitchen and make the cleanest gopchang restaurant in Korea." In particular he repeatedly stressed, "Having a sound system in the restaurant and the owner singing is not illegal," and, "This is not illegal," then sang in front of Jung Jae-yong and customers.
Under the current Food Sanitation Act, general restaurants must not engage in business activities that allow customers to sing or dance, and if violated they may face business suspension or cancellation of their permit. Based on this regulation, it is reported that some internet users filed complaints against the restaurant.
In response, Lee Ha-neul explained, "Kim Gyuri reserved and paid for all the seats because she wanted to treat her fan club members," and defended, "She sang one song at the request of the fan service, that's all." He also expressed his grievance, saying, "Because of that one scene, reports poured in on the grounds that people's political leanings were different."
Regarding the online claim of a "two-month business suspension," he drew a line, saying, "We have never received any administrative disposition such as a business suspension even once until now, and we are currently operating normally," and, "A two-month business suspension is clearly false information."
