'You Quiz on the Block' former girl group 4Minute member Heo Ga-yoon revealed the behind-the-scenes of living in Bali for three years.
On the 25th broadcast of tvN 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereinafter 'You Quiz'), Heo Ga-yoon appeared after a long absence. Heo Ga-yoon, who had made 4Minute's songs feel even more different with her clear and refreshing vocal power, was shining healthily and brightly, unlike the sophisticated vibe she showed during her activities.
After 4Minute disbanded, Heo Ga-yoon had been inactive and it became a topic of conversation when it was revealed that she has been living in Bali for as long as three years. Heo Ga-yoon said, "People think we saved a lot of money or come from wealthy families, but that's not the case. In fact, I only spend 2,000 to 3,000 won a day there. I spend more money in Korea."
There were several reasons why she left for Bali. After the group disbanded and she even experienced a failed shift to acting, Heo Ga-yoon suffered from bulimia for seven years and realized she was falling apart. In addition, her brother's sudden death changed her thoughts and heart a lot.
Heo Ga-yoon said, "My brother collapsed once. I learned that his heart was not well. It was just before he was to undergo heart surgery. But he suddenly passed away," and added, "He left when he was 33. He was younger than me. I never imagined it at all." Watching her brother's casket being closed, Heo Ga-yoon said she felt like an only child.
When she reached the age her brother had been when he died, 33, Heo Ga-yoon left to stay in Bali for two months but liked the life there and settled down. Heo Ga-yoon said, "I thought I couldn't do anything by myself, but I realized I couldn't do anything because I was under control," and added, "When I was at home in Korea I only thought, 'What about my future?', but when I'm deep in the Bali sea and look at the sky I only feel gratitude. I think I'm here thanks to my brother. I gained enlightenment because of him."
