Actor Jang Keun-suk warmly concluded the three-part journey with engaging hosting that highlighted the joy of communication and deep insight.
On the 24th, Jang Keun-suk joined chef Yoon Nam-no, David Lee, Fabri and WJSN's Dayoung in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, on the MBC Lunar New Year special three-part series "Discovery of the dining table" part 3 "what nature gives, a table that leaves nothing" to harvest from the sea only what it allowed and sought the roots of Korea's food culture that consumes resources wholly.
Jang Keun-suk began the journey by introducing the meaning of the "zero (0) table," which uses ingredients without waste. He headed to a sea farming ranch to meet amberjack, the best winter ingredient, and recalled the trout farm his father ran in his childhood, expressing his feelings about sea farming, which is different from freshwater farming, drawing attention.
In particular, Jang Keun-suk drew laughs with his enthusiastic efforts, swinging a net himself to catch a large amberjack. Although he faced difficulties due to the unexpected interference of seagulls, he brought energy to the scene with a positive attitude that it was a valuable experience. During the subsequent cooking process, he demonstrated his wide knowledge by explaining to Italian chef Fabri the wisdom of "eoduyukmi"—leaving nothing from the amberjack from head to fins.
Jang Keun-suk's contributions shone in the kitchen and at the table. He volunteered as Fabri's assistant chef, quietly handling vegetable prep and risotto cooking, serving as a reliable helper. He also showed sincere mukbang by finishing David Lee's Pohang-style mulhoe bowl and added depth to the program by pointing out the characteristics of Korean food culture, where live sashimi culture is well developed.
Above all, Jang Keun-suk impressed viewers by clearly explaining Korea's distinctive "no-waste food culture." Citing examples like shabu-shabu porridge and fried rice made from leftover dakgalbi sauce, he emphasized that using leftover seasonings is a unique aspect of Korean food culture and highlighted the diversity and inclusiveness of Korean cuisine.
At the end of the broadcast, Jang Keun-suk delivered a sincere message that deeply resonated with viewers, saying, "Rice carries the memories and happiness of many people," and "the power of the table and rice is that when shared, people can come closer."
In this way, during the three-part journey, Jang Keun-suk proved his irreplaceable presence as a messenger who connects the value of K-food with a modern sensibility, beyond being a mere host.
Meanwhile, the band CHIMIRO led by Jang Keun-suk will meet fans starting with "2026 THE CHIMIRO IN SEOUL" on April 11, followed by Osaka, Japan on April 16 and Tokyo on May 21.
