On the 25th broadcast of TV CHOSUN 'Dad and I season 3', Im Hyeong-ju and his mother were shown meeting Yu In-gyeong, a longtime acquaintance who has been with Im Hyeong-ju since his debut and a former reporter turned writer.
That day Im Hyeong-ju expressed hurt over his mother's stinginess with praise. Yu In-gyeong asked, "You released albums and worked as a singer since elementary school, so couldn't you have developed a tolerance to your mother's extreme indifference? Are you still hurt?"
Im Hyeong-ju confessed, "No matter how much the world recognizes me and how strangers with no ulterior motives praise me, because I can't get recognition at home, at some point it all seemed pointless."
He added, "What is deeply embedded in my heart is that when my mother criticizes me it intersects with the past. She says, 'That's why you don't have people around you,' 'That's why people get tired of you.' I burst into tears."
Then his mother retorted, "Don't you brag a lot? From the other person's perspective it's annoying. They don't want to meet you." In response Yu In-gyeong analyzed, "Why would Hyeong-ju brag to others? He bragged to his mother and was rejected, so he wants confirmation from other people."
Im Hyeong-ju said, "That's true. If my mother gave me even a little recognition, I really wouldn't have anything to tell others," and added, "I'm wary even of people I meet for the first time. Nevertheless they come to me and lavish praise. After it happens twice I fall completely for them." Yu In-gyeong worried, "That's a character that's easy to be scammed," and Im Hyeong-ju confessed, "When I calculated the money I was cheated out of, it amounted to 80 million won," drawing attention.
