Amid confirmation that the claim of a business suspension at 'Hyeongje Gopchang,' operated by DJ DOC members Lee Ha-neul and Jung Jae-yong, was false, actress Kim Gyuri also expressed her position on the related controversy and hinted at a tough response.
Earlier, online posts spread that the restaurant had been ordered to suspend operations for violating the Food Sanitation Act, but DJ DOC said "there has never been even one administrative disposition such as a business suspension, and it is currently operating normally," drawing a clear line that the information was false.
They said they have launched legal action for the dissemination of false information and defamation over the situation in which falsehoods have been recklessly spreading on some tow-truck–style YouTube channels and online communities.
In this situation, Kim Gyuri personally checked the facts. She posted her position on her social media the same day. In particular, Kim Gyuri said "after seeing the article and checking in surprise, the business is currently operating normally," pointing out that incorrect information had spread. She also said she felt sorry to the owners of 'Hyeongje Gopchang,' adding, "I think asking for one song to create a more enjoyable atmosphere caused this commotion," and offered an apology to the proprietors. She added that "I will be more careful next time."
She took a firm stance especially against malicious comments and personal attacks. Kim Gyuri said, "The company will proceed with a lawsuit, and I want to inform you in advance that we will hand over materials even on people who come to my channel and leave malicious comments," indicating the possibility of legal action.
The controversy was triggered when a scene of Kim Gyuri singing with DJ DOC at a gathering for her personal channel spread online. Some internet users raised complaints about this, and during that process the business suspension rumor reportedly spread.
Kim Gyuri urged interest and support for small business owners, saying "I cheer for the small business owners." After DJ DOC and then Kim Gyuri announced tough responses to the false information, the controversy is expected to lead to fact-checking and legal battles.
